Financial Resources for College

The types of financial aid available to students are grants, scholarships, and loans. How
someone can apply for financial aid is to have general eligibility requirements include that
you have financial need, are a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen, and are enrolled in an
eligible degree or certificate program at your college or career school. There are more
eligibility requirements you must meet to qualify for federal student aid. The benefits
students receive from this type of financial aid is really good because students can
apply for FAFSA and other organizations like them that they don't have to pay the
money back to the organization they borrowed from and students don't have to worry
about how to make the money back that they borrowed.

The types of state aid available to students are state grants, scholarships, and
loans and also some tuition waivers. How you can apply for state financial aid is to first
fill out an application online with your information and set how much income you make a
year and show proof, then you will wait and see if you will get accepted and make free
money from organizations like FAFSA or from the state of California, which some
funding sources you don't pay back. You also receive great benefits because you can
apply and make maybe even more money than you would’ve expected that can help
you in the future in school.

Private scholarships and the benefits to it are: Contributing a private scholarship

to a 529 plan expands the qualified higher education expenses to include more than just
tuition, fees, books, supplies and equipment. Amounts spent on room and board will
also be tax-free, if the student is enrolled at least half-time. The benefits to having a
private scholarship is because most of the time you don't have to worry financially and
continue your studies.

Military Financial aid I eventually in the future plan to join the military and one of
the benefits you can get from them are the Defense Finance and Accounting Service
offers military members a three-tiered retirement plan that spans from paying an equal
amount of Social Security taxes to assisting military members growing their finances
through a long-term savings plan. The military can pay for tuition for college and also if
you go to college then join the military you get a bigger rank than the other people who
have just joined without a college education.

In the future I plan to apply for FAFSA and other financial aid. And I have been
setting some money aside to go to community college first then hopefully do a four year
in the future. But also, I am planning on going to the military so there will be lots of
benefits in the future for that as well for my education. And the total cost I would spend
on college hopefully is around five thousand or somewhere around there. Also for my
job they offer ASU were they will pay for your education and you will just pay for books
and everything but that’s also another alternate option I have for my future education.
