Indian handicrafts are notable for their intricate beauty, which is achieved via the use of
traditional molds of natural and vibrant hues, as well as traditional art work.
The industry is more prevalent in rural and urban areas because it is very labor demanding
and primarily cottage based.
The market for jute packaging began to decline in the 1970s and 1980s, as plastics,
cardboard, and other alternative packaging materials were available that were not only
cheaper but also more convenient to use.
