Earthing :
The switchgear provided with a
continuous earthing busbar, with a cross-
section suitable for the proper switchgear
short circuit rating and pre-set on both sides
for connection to the earthing network.
The instrument compartment as well is located in the front side of the switchgear and it is accessible by means of a
locked hinged door. It can be dedicated to each functional unit or be common to several ones. The measuring
instruments, protection relays, control and signalling devices are normally mounted on the door, whereas any other
auxiliary apparatus, such as miniature circuit-breakers, protection fuses and auxiliary relays are placed inside the
compartment which will be accessed after door opening. Apparatus wiring is made with flexible copper cables and
arranged in dedicated wiring channels. Each circuit breaker terminal blocks are separated from the others and properly
identified.

The switchgear allows the installation of bus ducts with various current carrying
capacities
MCC panels will be coupled to PCC to form PMCC switchboards. It is possible to make Power Motor Control
Centers to supply withdrawable or fixed type motor or distribution feeder units.
All equipment, including the motor starter modules in fixed or withdrawable design, is situated therein. The
compartment can be divided into horizontal and vertical* sub compartments.
Contains control cables and terminals, as well as power cables and connection units. Cable entry may be
top or bottom.
The distribution busbars are connecting the motor starter or feeder module to the main busbar. The
distribution busbars are made of tin-coated copper rated upto 750A, 50KA for 1 sec as standard and 1500A,
65KA for 1 sec as optional feature. The distribution busbars are segregated from module compartment by
insulating material, and held in place by distribution bar covers.
The vertical distribution busbar system has degree of protection IP20. As an optional feature, these vertical
distribution busbars are embedded from both sides using Multifunction separator (MFS) to make it fault free
zone. The multifunction separator (MFS) for Drawout module is designed to fulfill the UL specifications and
is made of polyamide PA 6.6
The Vertical Busbars for fixed modules are made of flat copper / aluminium mounted on supports.
Aluminium distribution busbars are rated upto 1000A whereas copper busbars are rated upto 1500A.
Provision of Multi function separator with fixed type distribution busbar is not possible. Sleeving of busbars
are available as an optional feature.
Distribution busbars arrangement (For Drawout modules) Distribution busbars arrangement (For Fixed modules)
However Main busbar system used in MNS Fixed & Drawout design remains same as in MNS Rear Access
design.
Contains the main busbar system of MNS switchboard. The MNS main busbar system is arranged in
the top - rear of the switchgear.

Withdrawable/Fixed modules
MNS cubicles contain withdrawable/fixed motor starters and/or feeders modules upto 630 A. Above 630A
modules are available with full cubicle.
A withdrawable unit consists of the withdrawable module and the fixed part (frame mounted compartment and
control unit). The physical size of the modules are based on the standard grid dimension of E = 25mm.
The standard sizes of withdrawable modules are 8E/4, 8E/2, 6E, 8E, 12E, 16E and 24E. The size 8E/4 (150mm
wide, 200mm high) requires a quarter of the equipment area width. The size 8E/2 (300mm wide, 200mm high)
uses the same technical solution as the 8E/4 modules, with space for two modules in a horizontal arrangement.
Modules of the sizes 6E (150mm high), 8E (200mm high), 12E (300mm high), 16E (400mm high) and 24E
(600mm high) require the total equipment compartment width of 600mm. The required size of the module
depends on motor starter type and motor power/current rating of feeder
The rear wall of the modules contains power contacts, as well as control plugs for connection to the control and
protection device and auxiliary circuits in the control compartment. The withdrawable module includes all
electrical components for motor starter or feeder application. The front panel is made of insulated material and
holds the LED indicators/Lamps and operation handle (Q1).
The operation handle (Q1) can be locked with up to 3 padlocks. A micro switch is provided for the electrical
interlocks. Withdrawal of the module under load is not possible due to the mechanical interlock.
s)
Withdrawable modules 6E & above are constructed of sheet steel components that constitute the supporting
frame for the electrical components and the contact elements. The hinged front cover offers the advantage of
easy access to the components inside from the front. Opening the front cover of the withdrawable unit in
operating or test position is possible only with a tool (unlatched), while in the disconnected position unlatching
is possible by hand. The electrical switches and mechanical interlocks are operated by a switch handle (Q1)
mounted in the front door.
