GOLDEN FRESH PASTE AND SAUCE (GPS)

SAUCE AND PASTE PROCESSING AND MANUFACTURING

For Independent Contractors

OVERVIEW

Golden Fresh Paste and Sauce seeks to introduce a small to medium sauce and paste industrial

processing and manufacturing plant in Zimbabwe. GPS aims to have its products which ranges

from tomato, garlic, chili, paprika, and almond paste and sauce in each and every household,

restaurant and food outlet in Zimbabwe and the sub—Saharan region of Africa. GPS fully

controls the whole value chain from the production of the raw materials, recipes, processing and

distribution.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

 Due to the deindustrialization of Zimbabwe which has been transpiring in the whole quarter

of this century Zimbabwe imports 90% of its sauces and does not process the much best of

their agricultural produce in particular horticulture produce.

 The imported sauce and paste from the agricultural produce are way above the minimum

disposal income of most Zimbabweans.

 Smallholder farmers produced excess supply for the fresh market, giving rise to high post-

harvest losses and depressed incomes

1
 The few tomato paste manufacturer’s supply of processing tomatoes and chili is unreliable

and of low quality, with almost all processing plants operating at 50% capacity, and on some

days not at all due to lack of supply of tomatoes.

 The stagnant Zimbabwean industry has seen a lot of talent of young brilliant and educated

Zimbabweans failing to secure any employment for them to contribute their skills and

ingenuity.

The Opportunity
 GPS farms its own produce and has partnered with 5 other farmers in supplying of the

produce for processing.

 GPS has a strong and outstanding distribution model which is aggressive with some major

retail shops already interested in the product.

 The company has a strong human resources which is vibrant and that invested a lot of time in

analyzing the consumer buyer decision of the products and the necessary quality control and

distribution of the products.

 There is almost no competition the industry’s potential remain untapped.

 The company has its own recipes that can be tailor made for every customer sector making it

unique and outstanding.

 The company is able to make a lumpsome profit due to the fact that it controls the whole

value chain.

The Solution
To solve the myriad of problems which directly affect the economy of Zimbabwe and a lot of

African countries, industrialization has to be taken seriously and be undertaken promptly. Most

2
of the produce being exported off the shores of Africa are just being processed outside Africa for

them to just be imported back to be sold to the same Africans who produced them at a higher

price. Having an indigenous processing industry which monitors and controls the whole value

chain Africans in particular Zimbabwe can finally get value for their money, improve their

economy, decrease the galloping unemployment rate.

OUR PROPOSAL
To have a processing, manufacturing and packaging plant for the main horticulture agricultural

produce such as chili, sauce, ketchup etc. The process is fully controlled by GPS from the initial

stage that is farming, processing, packaging and distribution of the products.
