PARASITOLOGY

I. BIOLOGICAL RELATIONSHIPS
SYMBIOSIS:

Symbiosis is a close relationship between two species in which at least one species
benefits. For the other species, the relationship may be positive, negative, or neutral. There are
three basic types of symbiosis: mutualism, commensalism, and parasitism.

THREE BASIC TYPES OF SYMBIOSIS:

MUTUALISM

Mutualism is a type of symbiotic relationship where all species involved benefit from their
interactions. In other words, positive and positive.

In mutualism relationship, the bees get to eat the follicles

of the flower, and the flower plants get to reproduce.

In mutualism relationship of human and dogs are the

dogs supply protection and companionship to human and
the human provide shelter and food to dogs.

COMMENSALISM

Commensalism is a relationship between indiviyof two

species in which one species obtains food or other
benefits from the other without either harming or benefiting the latter. In other words, it's
positive and neural.

The shark and remora commensalism relationship is the remora is carried along the shark's
power. This allow remora to travel to different areas
without

having expend its own energy to swim, and also they get
a protection from sea predator. Then the shark is not
unaffected to the presence of remora.

Clownfish and anemone commensalism relationship is the clownfish gets a protection and
shelter to the anemone, while the anemone is unaffacted.

The orchid and tree, the orchid gain benefits by the tree by
getting nutrients, shelter, support or locomotion, and the the tree is not affect by the presence
of orchid.

The egret at the Carabao feeds on the ticks that

suck the blood of the Carabao, the egret gets
food by eating the ticks, at the same time, the
Carabao gets cleaning of it's parasites. So, both
of the egret and Carabao benefit from each
other.

PARASITISM

Parasitism is a symbiotic relationship where are organism benefits from the association and
the other is harmed. The organism that benefits is called the parasite, and the organism that is
harmed is called the host.

In parasitism relationship, the mosquito drink

human blood, which can cause human to get itch and
redness in skin or worse a dengue. The mosquito
benefit and the human are harmed.

In a parasitism relationship of tick and dog, the tick
gains a food source by drinking the dogs blood and
also the dog gets skin irritation. So the dog are
harmed, and the ticks are benefit by the dog's blood.
