4.4.1. Network
Info
For the communication cable of the PORT, two connectors are available, labeled ETH-A and ETH-B. The communication cable can be
connected to any of these connectors. For example:
1. Place the Ethernet cable under the cable clamp of the PORT back part.
2. Check the cable clamp covers the maximum possible metal shield for optimal electrical
contact.
The blade terminal (1) is delivered and pre-installed on the PORT by the factory.
1. Clamp the crimp blade receptacle of the USB cable of the PORT front part to the blade
terminal of the PORT back part.
If an existing PORT is replaced by a new PORT 1.2-2, the PORT back plate also needs to be replaced to ensure correct
grounding.
If you have to cut the sheath of the Ethernet cable to bare the cable shield, use only proper tools. Else, you may cut the wire and
the cable must be replaced.
Locking
The lock tool is hooked. To remove the lock tool, press the release nose, then remove.
When the PORT has been fully installed on the wall or the pedestal and locked with the lock tool, the PORT must be rebooted.
Rebooting is required because during startup of the PORT, the PORT system performs some internal testing and adjusts itself.
1. Locate the PORT to be configured on the oniD scheme delivered with the installation.
The PORT configures itself, starts to communicate to the database and obtains the required configuration.
Info
If oneiD is not released in your region, you can enter the configuration menu by entering
MANUAL on the oneiD screen.

and select the corresponding TID (for example for barriers).
Do not select this check box if the internal card reader is used.
This feature is used, for example, to distinguish between front door calls and rear door calls.
Example
In a hospital, the front door zones are used for visitors. The rear door zones are the surgery areas used by the staff only.
On a front door terminal, calls for rear door zones are not accepted. This prevents visitor calls to surgery areas and vice versa.
Tab Description
Skin
A skin is a set of PORT controls (buttons, labels and images) grouped into different frames or available as "template" items
that can be put into one or more frames.
Skin templates can consist of multiple components and also include colors and fonts which must be loaded into each PORT.
Label List of individual texts used for display on labels and in text areas of the PORT
Texts
Destination Icon and text displayed on the PORT destination button and spoken text announced for the corresponding floor/zone
combination
Special Special cards manager to create configuration, reset and calibration cards
Cards
This list defines the icon, the spoken text and the texts displayed on the PORT destination button for the corresponding floor/zone
combination for the corresponding language.
If no icon or no texts are defined, a default icon and a default text (string representation of the floor name) is used.
Name Description
For floors where a special text must be announced, custom voice announcement files need to be uploaded. To upload the voice
files, click the Audio Files tab.
The announcement file can be either:
A file code (for example 0002-0062.ogg)
A file name (for example schindler.ogg).
In the column Announcment, the name of the announcement file (.ogg on the PORT) needs to be typed without the extension .ogg. See
the examples in the graphic above.
Use lower case letters, as the file name is also in lower case letters.
If the name of the announcement file is shorter or equal than 4 characters:
The PORT looks for a file with the required language code (for example 0002-, 0004-...) prefixed to this name and plays this file
as announcement.
If the currently active language on the PORT is English, the PORT looks for a file with the prefix 0002- (for example 0002-
exit.ogg).
If the currently active language on the PORT is German, the PORT looks for a file with the prefix 0004- (for example 0004-
exit.ogg).
If the name of the announcement file is longer than 4 characters:
The PORT looks for a file with exactly this name (for example schindler.ogg) and plays exactly this file as announcement,
regardless of the currently active language on the PORT.
Multiple options are available.
Examples
<file-code> English
0062 The PORT looks for the corresponding file 0062 with the required
English language code 0002-0062.ogg.
The PORT plays this file as announcement in the language of
the language code 0002.
The floor is announced in the language of the currently active
language on the PORT.
Example: Floor -2
"Floor -2, Parking"
Example: Floor 0
"Lobby"
<file-name> English
schindler The PORT looks for the file schindler with exactly this file name s
chindler.ogg.
The PORT plays exactly this file as announcement, regardless of
the currently active language on the PORT.

A skin is a set of PORT controls (buttons, labels and images) grouped into different frames or available as "template" items, which can be put into
one or more frames. Templates can consist of multiple components and also include colors and fonts which must be loaded into each PORT.
After deletion of a skin/theme, the PORTs on which the deleted skin/theme was used may no longer operate correctly.
Tab Description
PORT Authority only disables the proximity sensors. The Sabbath service mode of the elevator is not handled by PORT
Authority.
Timed Message
If a timing is active, a message can be displayed on the PORT.
To display a timed message, a special label is required on the custom skin.
The Group Traffic Manager is not required for this special feature.
For details and instructions on the PORT Authority set-up, see PTO - PORT Authority.

the gate.
The PORTs that grant access for the zone transfer have to be interlocked.
Important
To be able to create configuration/reset/calibration cards, a card reader must be connected, configured and assigned to the User Form.
All changes are adapted from the system. All PORTs 1.1 are updated
automatically. No restart is necessary.
1. Click Import.
2. Select the location of the "cards.xml" file and select the "cards.xml"
file.
3. Click Open.
The special data is imported to the special cards manager.
During the process, all ID cards already included in the special
cards manager are deleted.
4. Click Store.
Rebooting the PORT is like powering off and on the device. A reboot does not reset to factory
settings.
Check the PORT is not bended, but installed flat on the wall or tight on the pedestal.
If the PORT calibration has failed and needs to be repeated, the calibration mode can only be re-entered with the "Calibration
Card".
Keep this in mind when you power up a riser of PORTs on a real installation. Just pressing on the screen does not re-start the
calibration mode.
If the PORT calibration has failed and the PORT switches to the "oneiD" screen, the calibration mode cannot be re-entered with
the "Calibration Card", the "Reset Card" or the configuration menu.
In this case, the PORT needs to be replaced and returned to the factory or your TMCC.
Screen backlight To check the functioning of the backlight, the backlight is turned off and on repeatedly.
PIR sensor To check the PIR sensor, move your hand in the front of the PORT
until a green bar is displayed in the middle of the screen.

8.1.1. Question
Our customer does not want the destination buttons, but requires the 10-key pad as default screen (same as on Z-line).
8.1.2. Answer
First of all, it is not possible to have a check on the PORT setting to set "10-key pad as default". This is not available and never will be.
If we did the 10-key pad, this would be a step backwards. We want to make a step forward.
Many customer request this because they are not used to the destination buttons. The would like to return to the told style.
1. When we introduced the Z-line terminal approximately 25 years ago, nobody was used to the 10-key pad. It just takes a
while, this is human nature, but, believe us, the users get used to the PORT really fast!
2. Explain to the customer why we have the destination buttons. Most customers will understand that destination buttons are
easier to use and more flexible, especially when you have the "Touchless Function" with automatic scrolling. This, of
course, does not work on a 10-key pad screen.
On some buildings, no identification is needed, open access to everywhere. This leads to too many floors on the Destination Button Page and the
users have to scroll.
The solution depends on the Building and cannot be generalized. We have to check your installation and see how we can improve this.
Option 1
You can have a custom Theme where you always have the e.g. Lobby Button on the main screen, so on every Floor this button will
be shown.
Check if the customer wants the 10-keypad because the Lobby or Parking Floor is too far down
We can do a custom theme with a fix-button on the Destination Button frame.
Contact us via PTTicket or via Mail to see which buttons we can add.
Option 2
You can have a custom Theme with bigger scroll buttons or multiple rows of buttons
Maybe the scroll-buttons are too small? We can make them bigger, maybe even name them differently (UP or 22..31).
We can create you a theme with two rows of Buttons, then more Floors are shown. Maybe even three rows.
Just keep in mind that, if you have lables on the Floors they may not be shown anymore
Another Option would be to use a PORT 1.4 or 4.4 which has a bigger screen. Those devices, with Custom Theme, are also capable for
You see, we have many options, just try to consider those. Don't tell your customer "Yes, 10-Keypad" but ask him what he really needs, what he
really wants to achieve. This is what makes him happy at the end. Feel free to contact us to discuss your solution.
8.2. What is the maximum number of characters per row on a standard PORT theme?
8.2.1. Question
What is the maximum number of characters per row on a standard PORT theme?
8.2.2. Answer
As the width of characters is different, the maximum number of characters depends on the type of characters you use.
Example
Why not try yourself? Just enter the desired floor name in the PORT editor and see if it fits.
8.3.1. Question

To be able to help you with your question, please provide the following information as detailed as possible:
You can change the icon on the destination button and the label text yourself.
For more information, see PORT Configuration - Label Texts and PORT Configuration - Destinations.
8.4.1. Question
Which languages are available by default on a PORT? What can I do if my language is not available on the PORT?
8.4.2. Answer
The PORT is delivered with preinstalled English, German and Chinese Mandarin announcements.
Some languages can be installed afterwards.
The new devices with lep3-PCB have all available languages preinstalled, as more storage space is available on these devices.
