b) Who is the ‘He’ referred to here?

‘He’ refers to the sea-god.

c) What is the figure of speech used here?

The figure of speech used in this line is personification.

II. Answer the following questions in about 40 words.

1.Why does the poet urge the fishermen to go in the direction of the seagull’s call?

Seagulls are birds that feed on fishes. Fishermen usually follow the path of the seagull and
its cry as this is likely to lead them to that part of the sea where there will be fish in plenty.

2. Why are fishermen called the ‘kings of the sea’?

The fishermen are called the ‘kings of the sea’ because just like the king knows/understands
his kingdom very well, the fishermen also understand all the facets of the sea very well.
