ATS databus connection (system or local)
The databus is used to connect Data Gathering Panels (to provide extra zones) and Arming Stations to the ATS control
panel (system databus) or a 4-door/4-lift DGP (using the local databus). Remote devices can be up to 1.5 km from an
ATS control panel.

The ATS1170 (RAS) must be connected via a 2 pair twisted shielded data cable to the system or local databus
connection. (Belden 8723 is recommended). The shield of the data cable should be connected to earth at the ATS
control panel or 4-door/4lift DGP and should be left disconnected at any other end.

It is recommended that where the distance between the ATS1170 and the nearest device is more than 100 meters, a
separate power supply must be used to power the ATS1170. To power the arming station, do not connect ‘+’ from the
system or local databus. Connect '+' of the local power supply to '+' on the ATS1170 and connect 0 volts from the power
supply and 0 volts from the system or local databus to the arming station terminal marked ‘-’.

See wiring diagrams on page 4.

LED’s
RX LED flashes to indicate polling data is being received on the system databus from the ATS control panel. If the LED
does not flash the control panel is not operational or the databus is faulty (usually cabling).
TX LED flashes to indicate the arming station (RAS) is replying to polling from the ATS control panel. If the RX LED
flashes but the TX LED does not, the arming station (RAS) is not programmed to be polled in the control panel or is
addressed incorrectly.

Earthing
For details see the ATS control panel installation guide. The "GND" link must remain fitted. The ATS1170 must not be
connected to a local earth unless it is used as a stand-alone device.
See wiring diagrams on page 4.
