EMBRACING THE WORLD OF TEACHING INTERNSHIP

My Aims/Purposes

At the end of the activity, I should be able to:

a. prepare all requisites for my teaching internship;

b. gain and master the skills, competencies, pedagogical tools and
experience required to be a teacher
b. demonstrate a very satisfactory teaching performance, and
c. develop positive views and conviction in every teaching performance.

My Responsibilities

Embracing the world of teaching requires a daily dose of vitamin C’s for
teachers such as Courage, Confidence, Competence, Commitment, and
Compassion. Each day you must brace yourself with courage and confidence to
face the public (students/learners, colleagues, administrators, and others). Along
with your initial vitamin C's, it is expected that you know how to exude competence
and execute commitment and compassion in every endeavor you take. This means
embracing a holistic, dynamic, unique YOU in the world of different strokes,
different folks.

As a teaching intern, I should be able to:

a. write lesson plans and prepare appropriate instructional materials.

b. arrive on time to class.
c. conduct/implement the prepared lesson plan.
d. assess my teaching performance.
e. practice appropriate classroom management skills.

My Observations (Reflections and Insights)

1. What are your expectations for your Teaching Internship under this New Normal?
The New Normal of education require new strategies of teaching to
continuously deliver the information of knowledges that students need for their
future endeavor. We have expected that this new normal of education brings us to
what really battle is-to deal with diverse intelligent through technology and applied
platforms. If we do observe the actual teaching nowadays, we can see the
difference between face-to-face class and online class. As we about to enter the
2
new normal of education we built our patience and strategical way of delivering the
lessons.

2. How did you get started? (State how you prepared yourself emotionally,
physically, mentally, and spiritually)

Verily, teaching is a noble profession for it leads individual into holistic

being. We have had our different preparation as we about to enter the teaching
filed. Some of us look for some resources connected to our major field. We make
sure that our body can cope up to stress and tiredness. We undergone
vaccination and other health check-up. Praying to God is our best foundation
among all preparations and also meditation.

3. As a would-be/pre-service teacher, how did you feel while going through your
final experiential learning course (Teaching Internship)?

I did not expect that I could reached the momentum of my college life, but
life is so sure that everything falls on its places. As a would-be/preservice teacher I
feel so nervous not because I must deal and build a relationship with my students
but because the knowledge I have is not enough to sustain the needs of my
students. My final experiential learning is a quite of fear and of excitement and as I
go through teaching internship, I know that the weakness I have is not the
aftermath weakness.
4. What are your experiences during your first teaching? (Narrate your
unforgettable experience/s)

Experiences would be my lasting souvenirs after all. I have lot of

experiences during my first teaching. Preparing a lesson plan is not easy for it is
your guide throughout the lesson and I guess if you failed to prepare you expect
that the mess and lapses are present during your class.

5. What were the challenges you encountered during your first teaching?

As we all know as we transitioned from the face to face class to online learning
platforms such as MS Teams, Google meet and others, it has been the internet
3
connectivity that causes problems regarding online class. This problem does not
only concern the students but also the teachers. And aside from that the low
attendance of students during class discussion is also one of the problems we
encounter as teaching interns, while the class is ongoing I noticed that students
were leaving the meeting due to unstable internet connection.

6. How did you respond or get through with those challenges?

One way that I use as a respond to get through those challenges is making as
many as possible alternatives in case I encounter internet connectivity. For
example if I am anxious that my internet may experience bad connection I can ask
for help to my co-interns and also giving students lecture notes for advanced
reading so that they can read it while fixing the problem. To maintain students
attention to your discussion we make sure that our slides are interactive and can
stimulate student’s learning.

7. Who/what was your motivation during your first teaching?

One thing that motivates me every time we do our demo teaching, is the fact that
we are one step closer to finishing college. We are also excited on what future
may bring, and also we look forward to teaching students and impart knowledge
and values to them. As one of our instructors always tell us that teaching does not
end as we leave the four corners of the room. As we share our values with the
students it can be lifetime.

8. What is your current perspective towards teaching?

Teaching is considered the noblest profession among all other profession and as
a pre-service teacher I develop more respect to our teachers who serve as our
second parents since we are 6 or 7 years olds up to now at the end of our college
journey. Indeed, learning never stops. It may sound cliché but it never stops, the
values we learn and we teach will be brought by the students whatever path they
take. Lastly, everyone of us have that one teacher that changed our perspective in
life for the better.
