HARMONISED REFERENCES
The Harmonised reference system, commonly known as HAR, indicates products which conform to
a European Harmonisation Standard as set out by CENELEC, the leading European standardisation
organisation. CENELEC is technologically neutral and aims to improve standards and quality
across Europe, allowing the trade of common standard product.
HAR cables have a designation code system conforming to the norms set out in harmonisation documents
HD 361 and DIN VDE 0292.

Harmonised
Compliant to European Harmonised Standards H05V-K and H07V-K, harmonised cables are colour-coded PVC
sheathed cables with a single stranded untinned copper core.
Harmonised cable is widely used in lighting, wiring installation work within control and distribution panels, in
conduits, channels, and buried in walls and plaster.
First introduced in 2004, the harmonised colour code clearly differentiates between conductors in single and
three phase circuits.

UL Standard
UL Standard cables meet the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) testing classification. They consist of a category of
wire and cable that have been independently tested to conform to the specifications for use in many applications
including general purpose wiring circuits, control circuits and internal appliance wiring.
UL Standard cables have single stranded cores, are supplied in various single colours, with three sheath
constructions. A wide range of cables/wires meet UL standards and it is UL’s evaluation of the product that
determines its area of use.

Tri-Rated
Tri-Rated cable is sought-after globally as the certification allows its use around the world.
The triple rating of BS6231 (UK), CSA TEW (Canada) and UL style 1015, 1028 or 1283 (America) makes it acceptable
across many markets, for applications including high voltage wiring within electrical cabinets, switchgear wiring,
rectifier equipment and motor starter circuitry.
Tri-Rated is a flexible, single stranded cable with a high temperature rating and flame retardant PVC sheath. Various
colours are available as recognised under the European Harmonised designation codes H05V2-K and H07V2-K.

CY
CY cables are screened flexible cables typically used in applications requiring interference-free transmission. They have
a multi-core flex, tinned copper wire braid and polyethylene terephthalate separator, which protects it from external
electromagnetic influences. CY is suitable for flexible use when temporarily moved without tensile stress, can be used
outdoors when protected from UV radiation and in dry or moist conditions indoors, including oil-water mixtures.
Available in 3, 4, 5, and 7-core types with colour-coded individual cores, in accordance with the European Harmonised
designation. Belden Machflex CY cable is manufactured in accordance with VDE 2050 standard.
• Reel length 50m/100m
SY
As an armoured flexible control cable, SY cable derives its strength and durability from a galvanised steel wire braid.
Stronger than CY and YY, SY cable is widely used in industrial applications and can be used in installations where
free movement is required without tensile stresses.
Suitable for internal dry, damp or wet environments - including oil-water mixtures - they are not suitable for outdoor
applications. Our range is available in 2 to 25-cores with harmonised core colours of stranded copper.

YY
YY cable is unshielded, highly flexible, PVC-sheathed multi-core power and signal control cable used for a wide variety
of industrial applications. Suitable for outdoor use when protected against direct sunlight, and indoors in dry or moist
conditions. The tough outer PVC sheath protects against light mechanical and environmental stresses. Belden YY Cable
is manufactured to VDE 2050. Our YY range is available in 3 to 25 stranded conductors, with core colours of green/
yellow and varying numbered black cores.
YY control cables are not suitable for fixed wiring applications requiring compliance with the requirements of BS7671.

Multicore
A range of high performance, screened and unscreened PVC sheathed cables for a number of applications
including industrial process control and computer peripheral wiring. Screening and braiding helps to reduce
external interference.
UL, CSA and DEF STAN ranges are available where their installation demands. All of the range is RoHS compliant
and manufactured to ISO9001.
chainflex® cables are designed for moving applications in energy chains or for
robot applications, fail-safe with 36-month guarantee.
chainflex® cables meet the requirements for EMC safety as well as other standards
and guidelines such as UL, CSA, VDE, EAC, CTP, Interbus and Profibus. Different
jacket materials are available. The product range includes everything from control
cables, servo cables, motor cables and robot cables to bus cables, data cables,
encoder cables and fibre optic cables. chainflex® cables for energy chains work
flawlessly over long periods of time even with heavy duty cycles, high speeds and
accelerations as well as extreme ambient conditions.
TESTED
In the igus test laboratory, an average of 650 series of tests at a time have been carried
out for the past 25 years under the most difficult operating conditions. These results
are continuously incorporated into product development and the online service life
calculator. This allows igus to give customers total confidence and is also the only
manufacturer to offer a guarantee of 36 months or over 10 million strokes.
As an expert in energy chain systems, igus® supplies all components from a single
source - including the cables. The design principle of the chainflex® cables helps
to avoid problems such as “corkscrews” and conductor breaks in cables in moving
applications, all this prevents machine downtime. In contrast to other “chain-
friendly” cables with braiding in layers, igus® manufactures chainflex® cables
according to the principle of braiding in bundles. The material and manufacture
of shield and jacket of chainflex® cables are also specifically designed for use
in energy chain applications. Since 1989, this has proven itself millions of times in
practice around the world.
No contradiction: good cables cost less
Fast availability throughout the world is a significant purchase factor. The chainflex
cable range is available from stock. This saves time, money, storage capacity and
applies to each one cable type which can be ordered without a minimum quantity.
Control Cables
Small bend radii, ideal for space saving installation. Patented core bundled design to ensure long lasting lifetime in
dynamic applications. Torsion resistant for reliable use in twisting applications (Unscreened).
300/500V rated for use in control cable applications. Wide temperature ranges from -50°C to +80°C (PUR)
depending on application type.
Use worldwide with global norms, including; CE, UL/CSA, CEI, CTP, EAC. Guaranteed service life for use in echains,
minimise risk of unplanned downtime.

LAN
LAN cables, otherwise known as Cat or ethernet, are twisted pair cables used for carrying signals in
structured computer networking systems.
Used also for telephone and video applications, the twisting of the pairs reduces crosstalk between
conductors, as does the level of shielding and braiding.
Different applications are catered for by the various sheath materials, including low smoke types.
