At the end of the lesson, students are expected to:

culture and society? Let’s start by identifying it’s Concept

identify and explain the different concepts of Culture and

CONCEPTS Concepts as a Culture


CULTURE SOCIETY According to E.B. Taylor ( English Anthropologist,
1871)
 Culture is that complex whole which includes
knowledge, belief, art, morale, laws, custom,
and any other capabilities and habits as
acquired by a man as a member of society.
According to Thomas Carlyle (British

 Society is an organized group of population.

 Society is consists of all people who share a
distinct and continuous way of life and think
of themselves as one united people.

As a concept, society represents an ideal type, which more or

CLASSIFICATION OF CULTURE
