I was 5 when I went to the zoo for the very first time.

Extremely astonished at the sight of

distinct animals. But they were all behind bars. Not as enthusiastic as I was looking at them.
Well, probably because many people just like me have been staring at them since days or even
years. Good morning to one and all. I would like to speak for the notion. Yes, zoos should be
abolished. Even though zoo advocates argue that zoos save endangered species and educate
the public, the violation of their right to freedom cannot be justified no matter what the cause
is.

Artificially stimulated environment in order for those animals to feel like they are in their own
natural habitat isn't the answer.

Animals in captivity suffer from boredom, stress, and confinement. I think any human can now
understand more than ever what 'boredom and confinement ' feels like especially after the
pandemic where we started considering our own homes as prison cells. In an Era where we talk
about the rights of all living beings why are we neglecting Animals?

A common justification for animal exploitation is Animals are not intelligent. They cannot think
or reason. Rights cannot be determined by the ability to think. Then babies and mentally
disabled people would have no rights in this world!

Harambe, a 17-year-old western lowland gorilla, was shot in 2016 when a toddler accidentally
fell into his enclosure at the Cincinnati Zoo. While the child survived and was not badly injured,
the gorilla was killed outright. was it the animals fault that it was held captive and on top of
that put on display for money? To be precise animals are nothing but a commercial commodity
set up for display because there is a demand for it!!!

When there is overpopulation of certain animals. Surplus animals are sold to other zoos, also
to circuses and hunting facilities. Or simply killed! Let's talk about
the practice of killing “surplus” animals. This is being kept quiet by zoos, but it happens! In
2014, the director of the E.A.Z.A. estimated that 3,000 to 5,000 animals are euthanized in
European zoos each year. Next, Early in the pandemic, a Zoo in northern Germany coolly
announced an emergency plan to cope with lost revenue by feeding some animals to other
animals, compressing the food chain at the zoo. Is this what they call conservation of
endangered species or are these caged animals mere tools of financial gain for big
organizations!! Well the answer is pretty clear!

Our zoo advocates also say that zoos instill love for animals among children and adults. But
there’s no evidence that zoos are making visitors care more about conservation. Ironically,
more than 700 million people visit zoos worldwide every year, and yet biodiversity is still in
decline .
With this I rest my case!
