Biogas/Biomethane
The market for energy from renewable sources is growing rapidly, stimulated by concerns
regarding global climate change. Converting or capturing combustible gases from biomass is
one of the most rapidly developing areas of energy production. This type of gas is typically
referred to as “biogas”.
Biomethane refers to the gas produced by cleaning and upgrading biogas produced through
anaerobic digestion of organic by-products, such as cattle dung, vegetable wastes, sheep and
poultry droppings, municipal solid waste, sewage water, land fill etc. After removing carbon
dioxide (CO2) and other gases, the remaining methane is essentially the same as natural gas
and can be used in all the ways natural gas is used. For this reason, bioMethane is also called
renewable natural gas or green gas.

Biogas in Pakistan
The story of biogas and its benefits is not well known. The potential of biogas is enormous.
Under condition of a supportive national legislation, the available biomass would not only
cover the targets set in the National Renewable Energy Policy but beyond that would allow
to multiply the production of biogas by a factor of four to five.
As Feedstock (waste/manure etc) is currently not harvested for energy. Also the
infrastructure of feedstock delivery is not yet well developed. Also Renewable Energy
policy does not provide any frame work to the developer to secure the long term availability
of feedstock. Current RE policy focuses only on electricity generation and, there aren’t
any incentives in Pakistan to pursue the identified opportunities in other market
segments.

Our Technology
With decade long R&D we have perfected our technology. Our plants come with multiple
digesters tanks of various capacities, from a single digester and up to 6 in a row and are
buried in the ground. The tank modules are prefabricated. Each plant includes a
prefabricated Tech Control Room with interconnection to all digesters and storage tanks
and together with all equipment required for smooth operation. The system comes with pre-

installed equip-ment such as manure pump, electronic/ pneu-matic valves, PLC system for
automatic operation including where available, and Internet connection for remote access.
The plant runs in continuous process in a temperature range 38-40°C. Approximately 20-30
minutes is all that is required for daily supervision of the plant.

With continuous feed and discharge of material from the system, the bacteria work
efficiently and higher volumes of manure are processed. Our innovative biotech solutions
make anaerobic digestion a more efficient process and provide better economic results. By
applying our biotech know-how we increase conversion rates, reduce viscosity in the biogas
fermenter, and accomplish a more cost-effective and more stable production process.

Biogas facility
The Biogas facility capable of running 0.5 MW generators for 24 hours, producing 735

the first of it kind device made available in Pakistan. The plant is turnkey solution designed
and targeted to small and medium size families. The system is fully integrated with the daily

digester is no novel innovation but the task was to sough a way to make them more efficient
and accessible. Traditional biogas systems are made up of bricks, crush, cements & sand and
buried in earth. BioSmart is totally innovative in the context the traditional system is
constructed and revolutionizes the way we look at the biogas system. BioSmart is a compact,
prefabricated, surface mounted device and needs no digging or heavy construction and starts
working the moment one assembles it.
