INTRODUCTION
We at Cockspur are happy to bring you our rendition of the C510 Mustang for
Microsoft Flight Simulator.
This aircraft has been long in the making and is a project of passion. We have put
many man-hours into this aircraft, and we have tried to recreate it after it’s real-
world counterpart with as much detail as possible.

C510 MUSTANG
The C510 Mustang is considered a VLJ (Very light Jet). It is verified for single pilot
operations.
It is capable of VFR and IFR in day and night conditions.
The aircraft is equipped with a G1000 integrated system consisting of three screens:
Two PFDs and one large MFD. It is also equipped with a GFC-700 autopilot.
The Mustang is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW615F turbofan engines
producing 1460 lbf of thrust each.
It has seating for four passengers in the cabin and two pilots in the cockpit.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
On the C510 Mustang, the electrical system can be divided into four main
components: storage, generation, distribution, and system monitoring.
Supply
Normal voltage of the electrical system is 28.5V and is primarily supplied by two
DC generators, but all primary system can function on only one generator.
The left generator is driven by the left engine, and the right generator is driven by
the right engine.
Secondary power sources are the battery and Ground Power Unit (GPU).
On the ground, a GPU can supply DC power to all buses.
Distribution
Normal distribution of power is done via the left and right feed buses, connected
with a crossfeed bus. This means that the system can run on either generator, or
both at the same time to share the load.
Monitoring
The system can be
monitored by the crew
via CAS (Crew
Alerting System)
messages, EICAS
(Engine Indicating and
Crew Alerting System),
and via the Engine
Starter switch
indicators.

LIGHTING
Interior
On the interior of the aircraft there is lighting provided in the cockpit and in the
passenger cabin.
For the flight crew, there is general lighting provided by a dome light and two map
lights. The stand-by instruments are all internally lighted. The instrument panel and
switch panel are back-lit where necessary.
In the passenger cabin lights are provided for each passenger on the ceiling, as well as
emergency lights in case of an emergency.
Exterior
On the exterior there are lights located on the wingtips, on the underside of the
fuselage, and on top of the vertical stabilizer.

FUEL SYSTEM
The fuel system in the Mustang consists of two integral wing fuel tanks. Each fuel
tank has a passive capacitance type fuel quantity system.
The main components of the fuel system are: Independent dual channel digital signal
conditioner, five fuel probes in each tank, and EICAS.
Fuel Tanks
Each tank is integral to the wing, meaning there are holes in the main spar and ribs
allowing the fuel to flow inside the wing. There a flapper valves installed to let the
fuel flow inwards, but not outwards.
The left and right fuel tanks each have a capacity of 192,5 gallons (728,7 liters), giving
a total capacity of 385 gallons (1457 liters).
Each fuel tank includes multiple sub-components: Main tank cavity, engine feed bay,
venting system, tank filler, sump drain valve, scavenge pumps, fuel probes, and
flapper valves.

POWERPLANT
Overview
The aircraft is powered by two Pratt & Whitney PW615F turbofan engines.
Each engine also contains a fuel metering unit, gear box, and bleed air valves to provide
air for environmental controls and anti-ice.
The engines are each controlled and monitored by a full-authority digital engine control
(FADEC). The FADEC units are remotely placed in the tail cone.
Connected to each engine are ignition, fuel, and oil systems. The engines are monitored
by the flight crew on the integrated G1000 system in the cockpit.
Each engine is flat rated at 1460 pounds of maximum continuous thrust, giving a total of
2920 pounds of thrust.
The PW615F is a twin spool, counter rotating turbofan engine. This means that the N1 and
N2 spools rotate in opposite directions. The single stage, high efficiency fan is directly
driven by a single stage, low pressure axial turbine. A single stage, high pressure axial
turbine drives a single stage, mixed flow compressor and a single stage centrifugal
compressor.
PAGE 9
C510 Mustang
Turbofan basics
A Turbofan engine produces thrust from
two sources: the fan and the engines high
speed exhaust. The fan produces thrust the
same way a propeller does, and the
exhausts exit the engine at high speed and
high pressure, pushing the engine in the
opposite direction.

ICE PROTECTION
Ice protection on the C510 Mustang consists of several different systems located on areas
of the airframe where ice is likely to accumulate.
On the wings leading edges are pneumatic de-ice boots, as well as on the leading edges
of the horizontal stabilizer and the leading edge of the vertical stabilizer.
The pitot-static tubes are heated electrically, as are the stall warning sensors.
Each ice-protection system can be controlled by the pilot using controls on the main
instrument panel.
PAGE 11

FLIGHT CONTROLS
The flight control systems consist of the control surfaces, trim surfaces, trim indication
systems, and the related electrical and mechanical systems that control the aircraft
during flight.
The primary flight controls consist of the elevators, ailerons, and rudder. They directly
control the aircrafts movement around the flight axis pitch, roll and yaw.
They are manually controlled through cables using the dual conventional yokes and
dual sets of rudder pedals.
The flaps and speedbrakes directly adjust the aircrafts lift and drag. Both sets of controls
are electrically manipulated. The flaps are operated via a handle on the pedestal in the
cockpit, while the speedbrakes are operated using a switch on the throttle.
PAGE 12
C510 Mustang
AVIONICS
The C510 Mustang features a highly
integrated G1000 avionics system
consisting of two PFDs and one large
MFD in the center of the instrument
panel. The G1000 system provides the
pilots with communication,
navigation, flight guidance, flight
instrumentation, and monitoring of
most aircraft systems.
Controls for the PFDs are located on either PFD frame, while the controls for the center
MFD are located on the pedestal.
The PFDs provide flight instrument indications, while the large central MFD provides a
moving map, navigation information, terrain/obstruction database, weather
information, and traffic alerts.
Atop the back-up gauges is the autopilot control panel located. This is modelled on the
GMC710 AFCS (Automatic Flight Control System).
Located to the left of the pilots PFD and to the right of the co-pilots PFD are the audio
control panels.
In the event of a screen failure, all essential information from the PFD and MFD will be
combined in a revisionary mode on the working PFD. The revisionary mode will also be
active before the information on the MFD has been confirmed by the pilot during
aircraft start-up.
For more information on the G1000 system, please refer to the G1000 manual
appropriate for the system installed in your simulator.
