Kyungbu High Speed Railway Project
In the first year of Korean HSR, passenger numbers were 72,300 a day and have reached 102,700 a day in 2009, a
42%increase. Notably, on December 19, 2009 within 5 years 8 months after Kyungbu HSR operation, the total passenger
numbers were calculated more than 2 million in cumulative terms and it was understood that High Speed Rail fully filled
up demand for intercity journey.
LS Scope of Work
Kyungbu High Speed Railway Project
Phase 1 of the HSR Project was implemented from June, ’94 to April, ’04 and Phase 2 from December, ’06 to December, ‘10.
Maximum Operating Speed : 300km/h (Design Speed : 350km/h)
Headway : 3 Minutes
Line : 256km for Phase 1/ 144 km for Phase 2
Stations : 8 stns. (Phase 1 : 4stns., Phase 2 : 4stns.)
Signalling System
LS participated in Phase 1 as a E&M consortium member except for civil / architectural work and led HRS signalling
system consortium for Phase 2 and awarded signaling and electrical work contract from the Korean Rail Network
Authority
SLP Implementation
SLP (Speed Limit Panel) : installed in signalling equipment room and designed to limit train speed to 90 km, 170km, or 230 km in
specified sections.
Delivered and installed SLP signalling modules along the entire HSR line, each signalling office and station, signalling equipment
room, Guro railroad traffic control center, Gwangmyung HSR control room, situation room of KNR, Osong electric office and
operational control room of Siheung Station.
Signed the contract on Dec. 27, 2006 and completed implementation on Dec. 22, 2007, focusing on HSR interface development.

Busan Metro Line 1, 2, and 3 Projects
Busan Metro Line 1 is the urban transit line of Busan Transportation Corporation, linking Sinpyong Station, Saha-gu, Busan
City and Nopo Station, Geumjeong-gu. Busan Metro Line 1 was built in 4 phases.
Initially, the line was built in 3 phases from Nopodong Station (Presently Nopo station) to Seodaeshindong Station (Presently
Seodaeshin station) and extended in Phase 4 up to Sinpyong Station.
1The line Commercial Operation on Jul.19, 1985 and became what it look today on Jun.23, 1994. Since its go-live, the largest
number of passengers have used Busan Metro Line 1 except for the subway lines in Seoul Metropolitan Area and extension up to
Daedaepo is planned to be completed in 2016.
Busan Metro Line 2 is the 2nd subway line of Busan, crossing the city from the east to the west, starting from Hopo,
Hwamyong, Deokcheon to Seomyeon, Gyeongseong Univ., Gwanganri, and Haewoondae.
Busan Metro Line 3 (Suyeong Station ~ Kyungbu Line Gupo Station ~ Daejeo Station) went in operation on 28 November
2005, and intersects with the existing line 1 and 2 in a shape of #
