    I-OBJECTIVES
    A. Content Standards
    Demonstrate understanding of:
    1. How the different structures of the circulatory and respiratory system work together to
    transport oxygen-rich blood and nutrients to the different parts of the body
    2. The prevention, detection, and treatment of diseases affecting the circulatory and respiratory
    system.
    B. Performance Standards
    Conduct an information dissemination activity on effective ways of taking care of the respiratory and
    circulatory system based on the data gathered from the school or local health workers.
    C. Learning Competency
    Explain how the respiratory and circulatory system s work together to transport nutrients,. Gases, and
    other molecules to and from the different parts of the body.

    A. Preliminary Activities
    ELICIT- Fill in the blank with the correct answer.
    1. Trachea is also known as _________.
    2. The smaller air passages that branch out into segments of each lobes of the lungs are
    called _____________.
    3. __________ is the structure where gas exchange takes place.
    4. ____________ connects the trachea to the lungs.
    5. The channel through the nose in which the air is warmed, cleaned and moistened is

    ENGAGE- Respiratory Relay: Shuffle and distribute relay cards to each group with six members (Trachea,
    Bronchi, bronchioles, capillaries, alveoli, bloodstream). Ask the student to read through the handouts or
    show a video the teacher will provide and ask them to write short notes at the back of each relay cards.
    Then they will read the card and describe where that part fits into the respiratory system.
    B. Discussing New Concepts and Practicing New Skills
    EXPLORE- Look at the given diagram and label each part with its function.
    How does each part of the breathing system work?
    How do they work together to function?
    C. Making Generalization and Abstraction about the Lesson
    EXPLAIN-Ask each group to present their output to the class.
    Why do we need to breathe?
    What could happen if one of the part of the respiratory system is not working properly?
    Which parts serves as passage ways? Which part is the site for gas exchange?

    How does air enters the respiratory system? How is air filtered in the nasal passages?
    What structure connects the nose and the mouth to the trachea? How does air pass from the
    trachea into the lungs?
    D. Evaluating Learning:
    EVALUATE- Complete the table below. In the order how the respiratory system works.

    EXTEND- Take a deep breath and think of all the great things you are doing for your respiratory system.
    Create a set of 20 breathe card with questions about the respiratory system, its parts and function.
