Tilt up the cab.
WARNING
Ensure that the parking brake is applied!

Disconnect all electrical power to the vehicle by
disconnecting the battery negative terminal.

Drain the coolant into a suitable container. Use drain
hose 9996049.

Remove the noise shields on top of the frame, right and
left sides, and from behind the air filter housing.

Remove the inlet pipe (1) between the turbo and the
air filter housing.
Remove the air filter housing (2).
Remove the earth connection (3) from the right rear
engine anchorage.
Remove all coolant hoses on the right side (4).
Note: Don’t forget the lower one.
Disconnect the coolant level sensor (5).
Remove the screws for the fan ring on the right and
left sides.
Remove the pre-heating (6) and the hoses to the
intercooler. Move the preheater element to the side
without removing any cabling.
Remove the fan shroud (7).
Remove the throttle housing (8) and move it to the side.
Disconnect the feed line to the air drier (9).
Remove the charge air hose (10) between the intercooler
and the air filter housing.
Remove the starter motor positive cable and the earth
cable to the engine block (11).

Drain the fluid from the steering servo (12) into a suitable
container.
Remove the air hose (13) to the exhaust pressure
governor.
Remove the noise shield under the frame on the left side.
Place a suitable container under the engine and
disconnect the servo steering pump’s suction and
pressure hoses (14).
Remove the fuel hoses (15) from the filter bracket.
Remove the dipstick pipe and oil filling pipe (16).
Note: Do not remove the pipe from the oil sump.

Cut off the air hose and electrical cable ties which prevent
the gearbox being drawn backwards around 15 cm.

Hang the engine in the lifting tool.
WARNING
Do not lift the engine with the gearbox attached, as
the lifting tool is not classified for heavier loads than
the engine’s weight.

Lift the engine carefully out.
