ABSTRACT:-
Psychologist working in the field of education that people how to
learn and more to learn about psychology. So this assignment is about
psychology, educational psychology and process of learning and
teaching in the field of educational psychology.

3
INTRODUCTION:-
Psychology describes and attempts to explain consciousness,
behavior and social interaction. Psychology also refers to the
application of such knowledge to various spheres of human activity,
including problems of individuals' daily lives and the treatment of
mental illness. It is largely concerned with humans, although the
behavior and mental processes of animals can also be part of
psychology either as a subject in its own right or somewhat more
controversially, as a way of gaining an insight into human psychology by
means of comparison including comparative psychology.
Psychology does not necessarily refer to the brain or nervous
system and can be framed purely in terms of phenomenological or
information processing theories of mind. Increasingly, though, an
understanding of brain function is being included in psychological
theory and practice, particularly in areas such as artificial
intelligence, neuropsychology, and cognitive neuroscience.
PSYCHOLOGY:-
The word, ‘Psychology’ is derived from two Greek words, ‘Psyche’
and ‘Logos’. Psyche means ‘soul’ and ‘Logos’ means ‘science’. Thus
psychology was first defined as the ‘science of soul”.
Psychology is the science of behavior and mind. Psychology
includes the study of conscious and unconscious phenomena, as well
as feeling and thought.
Different authors give the definition of psychology:
 WILLIAM JAMES:-
''The science of mental life , both of its phenomena and their
conditions''.

4
 JOHN B WATSON:-
“The discipline of information of psychology as the
acquisition of information useful to control of behavior”.

EDUCATIONAAL PSYCHOLOGY:-
Educational psychology is that branch of psychology in which
the findings of psychology are applied in the field of education. It is the
scientific study of human behavior in educational setting. In other
words Educational psychology studies mental, behavior and
environment related issues scientifically of those who are directly or
indirectly concerned with education.
Different authors give the definition of Educational psychology:
 E.A. PEEL:-
“Educational Psychology is the science of Education”.
 ANDERSON:-
“While general psychology is pure science, educational psychology
is its application in the field of education with the aim of socializing
an individual and modifying his behavior.”
 STEPHEN:-
“It is the systematic study of the educational growth and
development of a child.”
 WALKTER B.KOLESINK:-
“It is the study of those facts and principles of psychology which
helps to explains and improves the process of education.”
PROCESS OF LEARNING IN EDUCATIONAL
PSYCHOLOGY:-
The subject-matter of educational psychology is knitted around
the learner. Therefore, the need of knowing the learner and the

5
techniques of knowing him well. The topics include – the innate abilities
and capacities of the individuals, individual differences and their
measurements, the overt, covert, conscious as well as unconscious
behavior of the learner, the characteristics of his growth and
development and each stage beginning from childhood to adulthood.
Psychologists working in education study the social, emotional
and cognitive processes involved in learning and apply their findings to
improve the learning process. Some specialize in the educational
development of a specific group of people such as children, adolescents
or adults, while others focus on specific learning challenges such as
attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or dyslexia.
Educational Psychology helps in deciding what learning
experiences are desirable, at what stage of the growth and
development of the learner, so that these experiences can be acquired
with a greater ease and satisfaction. After knowing the learner and
deciding what learning experiences are to be provided, Educational
Psychology moves on to the laws, principles and theories of learning.
Other items in the learning process are remembering and forgetting,
perceiving, concept formation, thinking and reasoning, problem solving,
transfer of learning, ways and means of effective learning etc.

PROCESS OF TEACHING IN EDUCATIONAL

PSYCHOLOGY:-
The teacher is a potent force is any scheme of teaching and
learning process. It discusses the role of the teacher. It emphasizes the
need of ‘knowing thyself’ for a teacher to play his role properly in the
process of education. His conflicts, motivation. Anxiety, adjustment,
level of aspiration etc. It throws light on the essential personality traits,
interests, aptitudes, the characteristics of effective teaching etc. so as
to inspire him for becoming a successful teacher.
Teachers have to deal with a variety of personalities and issues
when standing in front of a class. An understanding of educational
psychology can help a teacher to get their message across effectively to
6
a variety of different learners, it can also help a teacher to understand
why a student may be struggling in class and how they can help them to
learn. The Alison educational psychology learning path will help
teachers and instructors to understand the area of education
psychology and how people learn differently, thus helping them to
deliver their message more effectively. Educational psychology is of
interest to anyone who has to teach or instruct a class with people of
varying abilities. It is also of interest to anyone wishing to understand
how the brain breaks down and interprets information.

7
CONCLUSION:-
I can conclude my assignment by saying that Educational
Psychology is narrow because educational psychology is concerned with
the behavior of the learner and teaching process in an educational
setting. Educational Psychology is very important to teachers and it
should be highly embraced for effective performance in schools.
Teachers are now able to understand different students and pupils in
the learning environment. Some students are not good performance
generally and teachers are able to identify their areas of interest.
Education includes a wide range of teaching and learning
situations, from children being taught by a teacher and learning in a
classroom at school, to university students learning from an instructor
in a lecture or a tutorial, to individuals teaching themselves a new skill
at home. Essentially education can include any situation in which
someone acquires knowledge by means of a process.
