MATHEMATICS HELPS PREDICT THE BEHAVIOR OF NATURE AND

PHENOMENA IN THE WORLD

What you see today in the modern world which all appears to be controlled

by the rules of mathematics is the culmination of a lot of experimentation,

observation and error correction. Which, by the way, is still going on. This all

works because mathematics gets to the underlying essence of each

phenomenon.

Math does help predict the behavior of nature and phenomena in the

world. This is the field called "Mathematical Modelling". An example would be the

whole field of Physics, from Newton's Laws of Motion, to Electromagnetic

Equations, these are all mathematical in nature.

Using mathematical tools, we create models which correspond to what we

can measure and observe in the world of reality. Models that work really well, that

predict behavior in counterpart to the model which have not yet been observed,

these are taken as "law of nature." Occasionally the mathematics of law

describing phenomena not considered related reveal surprising unanticipated

relationships. Mathematics provides the framework within which our observation

of the physical world can be encoded. It goes beyond being merely descriptive

when it exposes relationships that integrate disparate subjects. And a primary

goal of physics is to create mathematical models that allow both predictions and

explanations of physical phenomena. We weave math’s extensively into our

physics instruction beginning in high school, and the level and complexity of the

math’s we draw on grows as our students progress through a physics curriculum.

Despite much research on the learning of both physics and math, the problem of

how to successfully teach most of our students to use math’s in physics

effectively remains unsolved. A fundamental issue is that in physics, we don't?

just use maths, we think about the physical world with it. As a result, we make

meaning with mathematical symbology in a different way than mathematicians

do. In this talk we analyse how developing the competency of mathematical

modelling is more than just? learning to do math? but requires learning to blend

physical meaning into mathematical representations and use that physical

meaning in solving problems. What happens is, researchers observe nature and

phenomena and try to make a mathematical model that works for their

observation, and makes sense. Basically, they try to generalize, or find a rule, for

what they observe. After that, these models can be used for simulations which

help predict what will happen. Newton’s laws of motion relate an object’s motion

to the forces acting on it. In the first law, an object will not change its motion

unless a force acts on it. In the second law, the force on an object is equal to its

mass times its acceleration. In the third law, when two objects interact, they apply

forces to each other of equal magnitude and opposite direction.

If Laws of Motion weren’t introduced in today’s time, people wouldn’t be

able to grasp how and why some of the things happen in life. For example, if we

sit or lay down on a hard surface for far too long, our bodies will start feeling pain

due to the surface’s equal and opposite force on us, but we don’t know that thus

we’ll wonder why our bottoms are hurt, and what we do to stop the pain. Another

example is rocket takeoffs; in order to fly to space, the exhaust from the rocket

pushes away from the ground, and ground exhorts equal and opposite force on

the rocket which causes the latter to go forward. If the third law of motion never

existed, space travelling would’ve been deemed impossible today. Mathematics

is helpful especially when seeking to explain the limitless feeling one gets when

contemplating the natural world that exists outside ourselves. The logic of any

idea that can be explained in words can be reinforced mathematically to reach

and persuade a larger audience about this concurrency with natural phenomena.

All of the things mentioned are some of the ways that prove that

Mathematics is much more helpful in our lives than people expected it to be. The

goal, always, is to find a model that is usable. So, it should be accurate enough

and give enough insights without it being unnecessarily complex. It is because

Mathematics helps predict the behavior of nature and phenomena in the world.

MATHEMATICS HAS NUMEROUS APPLICATIONS IN THE WORLD MAKING

IT INDISPENSABLE

In all the entire history of education, Mathematics is a basic part of our

thought and logic, and integral to attempts at understanding the world. It provides

the vital underpinning of the knowledge of economy. It is essential in the physical

sciences, technology, business, financial services and many areas of ICT. It is

also of growing importance in biology, medicine and many of the social sciences.

Mathematics has been considered as an indispensable tool in the entire

education of a human. According to Griffiths (1974), an educated man is

knowledgeable enough to approach the circumstances of his daily life with the

sense of detachment and unbiased and not influenced by emotions or prejudices.

Mathematics is the only subject that can be used in cultures of the world. It can

sharpen the mind of every individual, shaping logical & reasoning ability and

developing the education of man. Mathematics has been a big helped to the

people of the world either in general or basic education.

The importance of mathematics makes our life easier and prevent any

chaos in our daily lives. Mathematics has certain qualities these are the power of

logical reasoning, creativity, critical thinking, problem solving ability and even in

communication skills. Without mathematics the world cannot move and inch,

whether in cooking, transportation, buying things and etc. These are the

indispensable/importance in our lives even in our world, Mathematics and Human

Daily activities, Mathematics and Reasoning, Mathematics as a tool for other

subjects, Mathematics as a universal language.

I think that Mathematics and Human Daily activities are really

indispensable in our life. I see that Mathematics development have been

motivated and guided by the application to these problems and everyday life

situations. In addition, Mathematics has become a tool for other sciences and a

provision of solution to practical requirement. For example, when we are

managing our daily expenses, balancing our checkbooks. Also, when we are

preparing food in the kitchen, baking and cooking requires mathematical skills as

well. Understanding the mathematical skill can be a big help in our financial

situation explaining the root of our daily problems. I see that importance of

mathematics to the individual in his life and having that knowledge of

mathematics can be indispensable tool for a successful and balance human

existence in the world.

In my opinion, Mathematics and Reasoning provides a precise, abstract

and logical thought. Studying Mathematics helps us to wider and sharpen our

intellectual ability in problem solving. I believe that mathematics helps to sharpen

our mind to train the mind to think logically. It also gives every individual the

ability to react in the right direction in case of emergency. This is indispensable

because we, students would easily draw logical conclusions, develop and

describe solutions and recognized how those solutions can be applied. For

example, according to Ebiendele E. Peter (2011), mathematics has been found

to be very useful in warfare. For a combat soldier they need to have a disciplined

mind and mathematics is the only right thing to do that military requires person

with a sharp mind with a low reaction time, capable of reacting without delay to

emergencies.

I can say that Mathematics can also be a tool for other subjects like

Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Social Sciences, Geography, even in music and

arts. For example, there are a lot of measurement of distance, area, volume and

etc., That we need to calculate for which the mathematics is essentials in

performing those problems. I believe that every subject, we will be needing

mathematics because there is definitely a calculation or number that we will

encounter that your need to solve.

I think that Mathematics is our Universal Language because math helps

people learn and communicate, even other communication barrier exists. It’s

funny that people do not notice that they didn’t only apply mathematics but also

think and speak mathematics most of the time in their interactions with people.

Many professionals that used mathematics like the geographers, scientist,

businessman, doctors and etc. Nowadays, a lot people are thinking and speaking

mathematics in every day of their lives.

Mathematics we can see that mathematics is truly indispensable in our life.

Whether in Mathematics and Human Daily activities, it helps us with our finances,

makes us a better cooked by doing measuring skills and etc. In Mathematics and

Reasoning gives as a logical problem that we will be needing a great mind to

answer those problem solving. Mathematics also helps us in our other subject to

do some math solving to be able to get the right measurement or right answer for

the question. Lastly, it is a mathematics is a universal language that can be use

when we thinking and speaking with other people. There are many more

numerous applications that we can use in the world. Many may complain that

math is boring or complicated, but the truth is that a life devoid of math means

that we go around experiencing the world on a much less interesting level than

we could. I believe that it can help us be better in many ways.
