Paraphrase

So what is paraphrasing? It is the process of rewriting sentences to present your ideas in a new and
clearer way.

CITE

Cite your sources.

A citation identifies for the reader the original source for an idea, information, or image that is referred
to in a work. In the body of a paper, the in-text citation acknowledges the source of information used. At
the end of a paper, the citations are compiled on a References or Works Cited list.

QUOTING

Quoting means copying a passage of someone else’s words and crediting the source. The text is identical
to the original

CITING QUOTES

To quote a source, you must ensure:

The quoted text is enclosed in quotation marks or formatted as a block quote

The original author is correctly cited

CITING YOUR OWN MATERIALS

Cite yourself as you would use the work of another person.

REFERENCING

Referencing means acknowledging the sources you have used in your writing. Including references helps
you support your claims and ensures that you avoid plagiarism.

Provide page for references and other materials used at the end of your work.

There are many referencing styles, but they usually consist of two things:

A citation wherever you refer to a source in your text.

A reference list or bibliography at the end listing full details of all your sources.
