    This activity helped me to open my eyes and understand the situation that the OFW children are
    dealing with. I realized that our country's poverty and lack of job opportunities open the door for another
    problem, which is the absence of parents in their children's lives, which I consider a possible problem
    because children should be guided by their parents to mold and develop their personality and character as
    they grow older and as citizens of the next generation. And if they are not properly guided by such values,
    they may grow up to be problematic adults. However, I am relieved to learn that the children of OFWs
    have someone they consider as a "proxy" who guides and molds them as they grow older. This activity
    made me realize how fortunate I am to have experienced my parents present while I was growing up.
    They are present at every life milestone, achievement, and failure. This makes me very grateful to have
    parents who look after me and cook for me.

    Finally, one of the things I learned from this activity that I will apply in my life is how I will
    manage my communication with my parents. I used to avoid texting or messaging my family when I was
    alone in my dorm because I was afraid I would cry if they called. The truth is that I was always homesick,
    but I never told or showed them because I didn't want them to worry about me. But now that I have a
    better understanding of the experiences of children whose parents work abroad, it occurs to me that I
    should never waste my time not communicating with my parents because I should be more open and
    spend more time with my parents because they are not getting older and not everyone will have the same
    situation as me wherein I have my parents through every stage of my life, for which I am eternally
    grateful.
