Career Life Connections 12: Post-Secondary Plan

Essential Question:
· How can I become more informed and knowledgeable about my options for my life after high school?

Curricular Competencies:
· Analyze internal and external factors to inform personal career-life choices
for post-graduation planning
· Explore possibilities for preferred personal and education/employment futures, using creative and innovative
thinking
· Know about diverse post-graduation possibilities, including personal, educational, and work options
· Practice post-graduation budget planning

Graduating students usually have a variety of options to contemplate. To help you with this process, you
will need to complete each of following sections of the Transition Plan, which will hopefully allow you to better
understand the path that interests or most interests you to follow after graduation.

Follow these steps:

1) Complete Your Career Plans (You will need a Plan A & B)

2) Next, complete the following two options:

 Post-secondary education or training (You’ve already completed most of this research with your PSI
Research Assignment)
 Travel / Gap year

3) Finally, complete the section called: Working full-time and living on your own.

4) Submit your Transition Plan online through Teams before the deadline (December 9th) and post your
completed Transition Plan to your CLC Portfolio Page on your website.

Write a one page reflection on whether your job will support your lifestyle.

● What sacrifices will you have to make?

● How will your priorities change?
● How much money do you plan to save per year? What will you use your savings for in five years? Ten
years? What are your savings goals?

- If I start working after high school instead of going to university, I can only get an average salary which

tight to live. Thus, I can’t buy many expensive electronic products that I like at the same time. Only if I can

save up some money at the end of year after providing gifts for families and friends, I can buy something

the I interested in which I didn’t receive as a gift. In addition, most of my time will be spent on work

because it’s a full-time job and supermarket workers won’t have that much holiday. Both the time and

budget for entertainment dropped dramatically more than I expected.

- The main goal of life will be changed to position advancement instead of studying hard in the university, so

that I can alleviate the pressure on cost of living and for providing my family and myself a better future,

better education for my kids or traveling across different countries for sightseeing.

- I’m planning to save $9021.36 per year. I’ll use my savings for banking investments so I can gain some

interest rate. Then few years later, as the accumulating of my savings, I will be able to have a nice vacation

in Mexico or across Europe with my family or girlfriend. Ten years later, after a lot of times of promotion,

I can save up a considerable amount of money so I can afford the house leasing or loan for buying the

house. My goal is to have a stable living environment for my own family and myself.
