good knowledge of law and regulations), who are able to carry out the required operations as well as to
prevent any danger arising from handling, installation, and maintenance of the electric toy.
The aim of the electric toy is described in this manual which also contains all useful information to ensure
a correct and safe use of it.
Strict observation of the instructions and information contained in this manual will ensure safety for the
user and the electric toy, the best savings on operating costs as well as a longer operation of the toy.
Photos and drawings are provided by way of example in order to describe thoroughly the operations to be
performed on the electric toy. Safety and information apply, even if your electric toy is somewhat
different from the pictures contained in this manual.
An electric toy is altered when it has undergone changes which cannot be considered under
routine maintenance, changes of its intended use and/or of its ways of use such as are not
recommended by the manufacturer, as well as changes of its technical, operational, or performing
characteristics.
The manufacturer is not responsible for any damage to the toy or injury to persons caused by an
improper use, lack of maintenance, or tampering.

indicated on the packaging, approximately 30 kg per person) or by using a lift truck.
When lifting and handling:
A. put always the electric toy in a steady and safe position;
B. the area around the electric toy must be considered dangerous;
C. the operations must be performed without interruptions (or impulses);
D. keep the load as low as possible when moving it, to ensure a better steadiness;
E. do not put other materials on the packages being transported;
F. do not put the electric toy components under cross or torsional stresses during handling
(transport, loading, and unloading);

8 Design and Safety of the Paying System (Circuit)
BASIC RULES
• One-way circuit.
• No crash between vehicles is allowed.
(THESE ARE NOT DODGEM VEHICLES)
• One single child per vehicle
TRACK CONSTRUCTION
Track shall be fenced, leaving just an opening to the parking area destined to getting on board or out of
vehicles.
Avoid track design that could cause head on collision, such as a 8-shaped track.
Ensure there is a single entry/exit onto the track, to avoid children crossing the circuit. It is essential to
use the AUTOMATIC LIMIT SWITCH. This enables the vehicles to always stop at a predetermined position.
Track bend angles shall be designed according to bend radii and to vehicle max. speed.
Tracks shall not have any bump causing wheels raising from ground. They shall not even have up or
downhill sections.
Ensure the battery storage/charging area is easily accessible from the track.
Small tracks will increase the number of impacts. Design a track wide enough to ensure children safety.
Track lane shall be as wide as possible, but not allow any U-turn.
- 31 -
8.2 TRACK CONSTRUCTION
A hard and smooth surface reduces tyre wear and makes driving easier.
Asphalt, smooth concrete or timber are excellent materials.
ASSEMBLY
Metal tubular sections shall be secured to ground
by drilling 16 mm holes and using expandable plugs
of at least 15x34, and 48x12 bolts if fixed on
concrete, or pickets, if fixed onto asphalt. The
different metal tubular sections will have to be
joined together using 30x12 bolts and relevant self-
locking nuts.
FIG. 8.1 TRACK EDGE METAL TUBULAR SECTIONS
MAINTENANCE AND CHECKS
We recommend checking once a month that bolts and nuts are tightened, and that expandable plugs
have not come out their seats. Should this be the case, tighten any loose bolt or plug.
- 32 -
8.3 AUTOMATIC LIMIT SWITCH
All Sela vehicles can be fitted with an automatic limit switch. This enables the vehicles to stop at a
predetermined position.
Position the magnetic strip at approx. 4 metres from the desired stopping point.
When the ride has timed out a warning light will flash. The ride will only stop when the vehicle passes
over the magnetic strip, which is embedded in the track. All vehicles will thus always stop in the same
position.
When designing the circuit, envisage a parking area allowing vehicles to stop at the point where the ride
is required to stop.
The personnel authorised to work on vehicles shall be informed about their correct use for safety reasons,
and shall respect all the applicable prescriptions.
Operator shall visually follow vehicles ride, making sure that the envisaged safety prescriptions are
complied with.
Child is allowed to go on board the vehicle when it is stopped, and inside track parking area. At the end
of the ride, the operator will have to take vehicles in the parking area before allowing children to get out
or go on board of the vehicle.
The adult people responsible for children safety will always have to let them wear suitable shoes and
clothes, avoiding the use of swirling clothes that could get entangled in vehicle open moving parts.
- 33 -
8.6 CIRCUIT CORRECT USE: RULES
The owner is obliged to exhibit the RULES, to be clearly visible by both children and adult people.
The exhibition of the following rules will ensure a correct information of all users:
¾ The use of the system is strictly forbidden to children below 3 years of age
¾ The use of safety belts is compulsory on vehicles, and the use of helmets when riding bikes and
¾ Once the ride is over, before getting out of the vehicle, make sure that no other vehicle is
¾ The management is not liable for any damage caused by the failure to comply with these RULES and
reserves the right to ask all the people not complying with them - thus causing a danger for
- 34 -
9 Disposal
In compliance with EC directives or current local regulations, the user must:
A. take care of the disposal as well as of the elimination of the electric toy materials, in order to
preserve and protect the environment;
B. before scrapping the electric toy, the user shall inform the manufacturer about all the data indicated
on the identification plate.
In case of scrapping of the machine or of parts of it, attention should be paid to all safety regulations to
avoid any risk arising from the disposal of industrial machinery. Special attention should be paid during
the following phases:
A. disassembly of the machine from the operating area;
B. transport and handling;
C. disposal;
D. separation of materials.
ENVIRONMENTAL RISK
Separation and recycling of materials or their disposal should be carried out in compliance with
current National and Regional Regulations concerning industrial solid wastes as well as toxic and
harmful wastes.
TOXIC SUBSTANCES
Disposal of toxic-harmful wastes should be carried out in compliance with current National and
Regional Regulations, delivering them to special authorised waste collection bodies, upon previous
authorisation to their temporary stocking.
The presence of harmful substances in the electric and electronic devices as well as an improper
use of these devices or of parts of them may have potential detrimental effects on the environment
and on the human health.
If the disposal of toxic materials is not carried out in compliance with the relating Regulations, the
following risks may occur:
A. environmental pollution,
B. poisoning of the persons performing the disposal.
The operator or the persons performing the disposal must take into consideration that the electric toy is
composed as follows:
Part Material
Synthetic resins (polyester and fibre glass). Body
Plastic. Electric cable covering, plastic parts of the electric
components, protection panels, battery.
Steel. Frame, mechanical parts, electric system parts.
Aluminium. Mechanical parts, electric system parts, wheel rim,
gearmotor.
Rubber. Bumpers, tyres.
Copper. Electric cables, electric system parts, motor.
Oil. Gearmotor.
Lead elements. Battery.
Acid electrolyte. Battery.
