The document discusses electrical installation and maintenance curriculum and assessments. It provides details about course structure, competencies, and assessment methods.

A competency-based curriculum specifies learning outcomes consistent with workplace requirements as agreed through industry consultation. It can be developed when competency standards exist, or outcomes must be clearly defined.

Institutional assessment determines a trainee's achievement of units of competency. A certificate is issued for each, and results may be considered for national certification. Graduates must undergo mandatory national assessment upon completion.

What is Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC)?

• A competency-based curriculum is a framework or guide for the

subsequent detailed development of competencies, associated
methodologies, training and assessment resources.

• The CBC specifies the outcomes which are consistent with the
requirements of the workplace as agreed through the industry or
community consultations.

• CBC can be developed immediately when competency standards

exist.

• When competency standards do not exist, curriculum developers

need to clearly define the learning outcomes to be attained. The
standard of performance required must be appropriate to industry
and occupational needs through the industry/enterprise or specified
client group consultations.

What is Institutional Assessment?

 Institutional assessment is undertaken by trainees to determine their

achievement of units of competency.
 A certificate of achievement is issued for each unit of competency.
 The result of the institutional assessment may be considered as
evidence for the assessment for national certification. As a matter of
policy, graduates of programs registered with TESDA under this
training regulation are required to undergo mandatory national
competency assessment upon completion of the program.

These materials are available in both printed and electronic copies.
