Compliance with Food Packaging Regulations

Under specific conditions (FDA, EC-guidelines and BfR recommendations) the
adhesive UR 7729 / UR 6026 is suitable for the lamination of food packaging
materials. A conformity letter with further details is available on request. The
responsibility for compliance with the specific regulations is with the converter and
not with the adhesive supplier.

Product Properties By reaction of the two components a high polymer adhesive film will be obtained
which shows good adhesion on various substrates. The completely cured
adhesive film Liofol UR 7729 / Additive UR 6026 is

- transparent
- odourless
- elastic and
- age resistant

II. Directions for Use

Mix Ratio 100 parts of Liofol UR 7729 with 80 Parts of Additive UR 6026.

Coating Liofol UR 7729 / Additive UR 6026 is applied on special laminating machines with
multi roller application systems.

Coating Weight Depending on the film or foil combination and the end use of the laminate, the
adhesive weight may range from 1 - 3 g/m² dry. For printed laminates the weight
has to be adjusted accordingly.

Dosing The adhesive is continuously added in the gap of the application station with a
two-component mixing and dosing unit. The amount of adhesive in the gap
should be kept on the lowest possible level.

Laminating Conditions Precise web tension control together with a suitable winding program avoids
delaminations as well as telescoping and curling effects.

Cleaning In case of a machine stop (for more than 30 minutes) the coating unit has to be
cleaned with solvents / plasticizer-mixture (observe safety precautions) and the
two component dosing unit has to be washed. The same cleaning procedure has
to be followed at the end of the run.

Curing The laminates may be rewound and slit after 1 - 2 days. Manufacture of triplex
laminates is possible 24 hours after duplex production. Complete curing will be
achieved after 7 - 14 days of storage at room temperature.

Cautionary Information When using Liofol UR 7729 / Additive UR 6026 an efficient exhaust hood has to
be fitted to the coating unit for safety reasons. The exhaust efficiency has to be
checked prior to production by gas analysis for isocyanates concentration in the
air. Safety regulations with regard to handling of isocyanates have to be followed
as per the guideline issued by the International Isocyanates Institute. Please also
refer to the local safety instructions as well as our safety data sheet and contact
Henkel for analytical support.

III. Transport/Storage
Storage Liofol UR 7729 and Additive UR 6026 have a storage life of 9 months at room
temperature when stored in the original unopened containers. Opened containers
have to be closed immediately and the material should be consumed within a
short period.

Classification Details can be obtained from the corresponding safety data sheets.

IV. Additional Information
Film additives, particularly slip additives, in packed goods, printing inks, pre-
treatment and coating of films are of significant importance to the end use of the
laminates and may affect the performance properties either straight away or later.

Laminates of high slip containing films, EVA films, CPA films and white-pigmented
PE films bear the risk of migration of monomeric MDI. This can cause negative
influences on the filling good and may lead to antiseal effects. Therefore,
practical laminating tests as well as proper checks on the laminates are necessary
before going into full-scale production.

The deep draw properties of film / film laminates have to be checked since
oriented films (OPA, OPP) show a tendency of tunnelling upon the influence of
higher temperatures.

Further detailed information can be obtained from our "Technical Guide Line for
laminating with Liofol UK/UR adhesives".
