Skin Repair

TO MAKE SURE THAT ALL CLEARANCE DIMENSIONS FOR COMPONENTS ARE KEPT IN THE
SPECIFIED LIMITS.

CHAPTER 52 THRU 57 OR IN A SPECIFIC REPAIR INSTRUCTION.
1. Task Supporting Data
A. General
(1) Given in this task is the necessary information to do a temporary or permanent skin repair to a
composite structure.
(2) The repairs given in this task are defined to restore skin damages. They do not cover damages
to honeycomb cells, ribs or stiffener.
(3) Before starting to repair the damage, follow the steps given in the Inspection/Repair Flow Chart
in TASK 51-77-10-911-001, Figure 001.
(4) For a permanent repair several methods are given. For example:
- a wet lay up or pre-cured doublers,
- a hot bond repair using prepregs in combination with an adhesive film.
(5) The repairs given in this task are for general use and are to be applied only when a specific
chapter calls for them.
(6) To make an approved repair, refer to the relevant chapter in the SRM for details of the
component as follows:

2. Repair Procedure
A. Wet Lay-Up Repair for non Perforating Damage (Refer to Figure 001 (sheet 1 thru 4))
(1) Prepare the repair area (Refer to TASK 51-77-11-911-018 Paragraph 2.B.
