Compression test (according to IEC 61386)

Essai de compression (conformément à la CEI 61386)
The conduit’s circular cross-section is compressed by applying a constant force

by means of a dynamometric sensor. After a while, the force is released and the
outside diameter of the tube is measured, comparing it to the initial diameter. The
differential may not exceed a given % value. The test is carried out under standard
ambient conditions (23°C and 50% humidity).
La partie circulaire de la gaine est comprimée en appliquant une force constante
à l’aide d’une machine dynamométrique. Après un certain temps, on arrête
d’exercer la force et on mesure le diamètre extérieur de la gaine, en le comparant
au diamètre initial. Le différentiel ne peut dépasser un pourcentage déterminé.
L’essai se déroule dans des conditions environnementales standards (23 °C et
50 % d’humidité).

The conduit is subjected to an impact energy determined by two variables: the

mass of the impact hammer and its fall height. The test is considered successful
if the material is not cracked or broken and if it’s possible to get a caliber through
the inside of the tube. The test is carried out with the specimen at the minimum
working temperature specified by the manufacturer.

la masse du marteau d’impact et la hauteur de chute. On considère l’essai réussi
si le matériel n’est pas fracturé ni cassé et si l’on arrive à faire passer un calibre

The conduit is cyclically bent from left to right. Once the material becomes
cracked or is broken, the number of cycles is recorded, thus indicating the
product’s resistance to fatigue. The trial takes place at different temperature
values to determine the behaviour in a wider range of applications.
