The government’s response to the unseen

Based on an article, the Philippines' response to COVID-19 was

described as one of the longest and strictest lockdowns. Besides their
emergency response, How exactly did our government respond to the uprising
problems of the country?

As described by the World Health Organization, Coronavirus

Disease is an infectious disease that will have you experience mild to
moderate respiratory illness. In January of 2020, the first suspected case in
the Philippines was investigated. Intendedly, the lockdown was only for a
month. An article showed that at that time, the country had 6,456 confirmed
positive covid-19 cases, 426 deaths, and 612 recoveries. With the alarming
number of reported positive COVID-19 cases, the cities of Metro Manila and
other provinces were under Enhanced Community Quarantine. Regulations
that had been implemented under the lockdown/ECQ include wearing masks
and face shields. Everyone was instructed to stay at home. In addition, only
one member of each household is allowed to go and buy their essentials.
Mass gatherings were strictly prohibited as well as the suspension of classes
for all grade levels. Going on vacation in or outside of the country was
prohibited as well. Businesses were forced to close, excluding those who
provide the services and essential goods for the people. The government puts
the responsibility to the military and police in ensuring that the people obeyed
the health protocols. The government's response was described as draconian
in fighting against the war on Covid-19.

During the first half of 2020, unemployment rose to 17.7%,

indicating that Filipinos would not be able to get their old jobs back. COVID-19
put a halt on the economic state of the country. Hence, the Philippine four-
pillar policy gave help to the vulnerable by providing social health protection
that includes the OFWs and monetary measures that supply credit guarantees
for small businesses. Moreover, it helped in expanding resources for the
medical workers and also added financial support to crucial sectors such as
agriculture and services. Because of the pandemic, the government
recognizes the importance of science and technology in fighting against this
disease.
However, articles have stated that the government displayed
incompetence regarding the several precautionary measures implemented.
Survey responses were conducted. Results declared that most people
deemed that the government had acted appropriately to handle the outbreak.
Despite the uncertainties, the government does their utmost to locate the best
solution to every situation.
