Definition: A quadrilateral is a four-sided geometric figure bounded by
line segments.

Trapezium

Definition: A trapezium is a special type of a quadrilateral in which exactly


one pair of opposite sides are parallel.
• The parallel sides are called the bases of the trapezium.
• The distance between the bases is known as the height
(or altitude) of the trapezium.

Definition: A paralleloagram is a quadrilateral in which each sides is parallel


to the side opposite to it.

Note: Bisect means “divides exactly into two equal parts”.

Example 1: Find the values of x and y in parallelogram ABCD. Then find AE, EC, BE,
and ED.

Example 2: the right ABCD is a parallelogram. Find the measure of ∠A, ∠B and ∠C.
