Poverty is a persistent issue for the majority of Filipinos.

Nobody ever chose to be poor, so there

must be reasons why they ended up in their predicament, according to a quote by an
unidentified author that read, "Poverty is a decision, and not fate." Some people think that the
government is to blame for the rising tide of the poor, but is that truly the case? They probably
receive the blame since they control all of our nation's resources.

Government may have a major impact. The economic framework comes from the government.
The policies are given by government. Government provides the structure for institutions. Some
people believe that the government should be doing more; some believe it should be doing less,
and some feel that the current role is about right.
The most pressing societal issue that needs to be solved is still poverty. Wikipedia states that
the poverty line in the Philippines is 16,841 pesos per capita per year and About half of the 88
million people who live in the Philippines live in rural regions, according to the Rural Poverty
Portal. Nearly 80% of the country's poor people reside in these places, where poverty is both
the worst and most pervasive. The poor rural people depend for subsistence on farming and
fishing for their livelihoods. In general, illiteracy, unemployment and the incidence of poverty are
higher among indigenous peoples and people living in the upland areas. Overall, more than a
third of the people in the Philippines live in poverty.

We cannot ignore the fact that the government is directly responsible for the nation's
rising rate of poverty. The role of the officials is to at least partially eliminate the suffering. Those
in positions of authority should understand how to distribute resources effectively so that
everyone has the chance to flourish. As stated in the Philippines Development Plan 2011-2016,
the government actually intended to end poverty (PDP). The PDP for those six years calls for a
7%–8% yearly economic growth rate and the accomplishment of the MDGs (MDGs). Under the
MDGs, the Philippines pledged to reducing its 33.1% rate of extreme poverty to 16.6% by 2015.

Being an archipelago, the Philippines is surrounded by water and land, giving our nation a
wealth of natural resources. However, one of the primary problems facing our nation is that our
administration lacks the knowledge to spend resources effectively. The government needs to
develop a better method to address this issue so that these resources are not wasted. a system
that would share the authority of a single official among those capable of successfully managing
and coordinating projects.
The government should prioritize education as one of the finest ways to alleviate poverty
in order to help the less fortunate citizens of our nation. The youth is rarely acknowledged as a
resource in decision-making processes, notwithstanding a quote from an unidentified author that
"Education is a gateway to reducing poverty." Instead, young people are purposefully kept out of
key decision-making and development processes. As a result, policy-making frequently lacks
their perspectives as Children who share their newfound knowledge with others will benefit their
communities as well.Education is a key in lifting people out of the cycle of extreme poverty and
preventing one poor generation producing another poor generation.
Because of this, poverty cannot be prevented, but the government can at least try to
stem the tide of people living in poverty. It affects the poor because they have limited resources,
which means that poverty is a problem that harms those who are poor and desire to escape it
but are unable to do so since they don't always receive government assistance. Even though
there are a lot of people attempting to stop poverty, it is hard to stop it without the backing and
power of the government, this is because to combat poverty we have to fight it with a lot of
money from the government that might support us with this need.
