    Computer Project

    A peg attached to the rotating disk causes the slope angle of the table OB to vary as  =  0 cos t , where
     0 = 15o. At t = 0 s, the particle A is placed on the table at R = 0.6 m with no velocity relative to the table.
    The particle A has a mass of 1 kg. Neglect friction.

    (1) Draw FBD of the particle A.


    (2) Formulate equation of motions of the particle including the appropriate boundary conditions. You
    should have two nonlinear ordinary differential equations.
    (3) Write a computer code to determine the time when the particle falls off the table (tleave) by
    plotting R versus t for  = 0,  / 5 ,  / 2 ,  , 3 / 2 rad/s.
    (4) Determine the contact force between the particle and the table from time of release until the
    particle falls off the table, by plotting N versus t for  = 0,  / 5 ,  / 2 ,  , 3 / 2 rad/s.
    (5) Validate your answers obtained from the computer code in the case of  = 0 rad/s with hand
    calculations from the formulas we learn in Chapters II and III.
    (6) Discuss physics of the particle’s motion from all the above plots thoroughly. Do you think by any
    chance the particle loses contact with the table. You may also be interested to plot the trajectory
    of the particle A in space over time at some  , just like the figure below, in which  =  rad/s.
    The particle begins to move from right to left when the table is lowered during 0  t  0.95 s.
