Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose to the

Freedom Struggle - Essay

Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was one of the most prominent

leaders of the Indian independence movement against British
colonialism. He is best known for his role in the Indian National
Army (INA), which he formed to fight against the British Indian
army during World War II. Bose's contributions to the freedom
struggle have made him an iconic figure in Indian history.

Bose was born in Cuttack, Odisha, India in 1897. He was a

brilliant student and received a scholarship to study in England,
where he passed the Indian Civil Service Examination in 1920.
However, Bose resigned from his position in the Indian Civil
Service in 1921, due to his growing dissatisfaction with British
rule in India. He then became actively involved in the Indian
independence movement.

Bose's political career took off in the early 1920s, when he joined
the Indian National Congress, the leading political party in the
Indian independence movement. He quickly rose through the
ranks of the Congress and was elected as the President of the
party in 1938. However, Bose's ideas for the independence
struggle were at odds with those of the Congress leadership, and
he resigned from the party in 1939.
Bose's vision for the independence struggle was more radical
than that of the Congress. He believed that India's freedom could
only be achieved through an armed struggle against the British.
In 1940, he formed the Forward Bloc, a political organization that
aimed to unite all anti-British forces in India.

In 1941, Bose left India for Germany, where he met with Adolf
Hitler and other German leaders. He sought their help in his fight
against the British. With German support, Bose formed the
Indian National Army (INA) in 1942. The INA, along with other
Indian troops, fought alongside the Japanese army against the
British Indian army in Burma and India.

Bose's contributions to the freedom struggle have made him an

iconic figure in Indian history. His role in the INA and his
leadership of the Indian independence movement have inspired
generations of Indians to fight for freedom and self-rule. Bose's
legacy continues to be celebrated in India, and his ideas and
ideals continue to be relevant to the people of India.

Even though Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose died in a plane crash in

1945, his contributions to the Indian freedom struggle will always
be remembered. He is a true inspiration to many Indians and his
legacy still lives on.
