Abstract :
Due To Rapid Urbanization and industrialization as well as the melting of
icebergs (as an obvious impact of global warming), arable land under
cultivation is further going to decrease.
Frequent drought Conditions and Unpredictability of climate and weather
patterns, rise in temperature, river pollution, poor water management and
waste management of huge amounts of water, a decline in ground level, etc.
are threatening food production under conventional soil-based agriculture.
Under such circumstances, in near future, it will become impossible to feed the
entire population using an open-field system of agriculture production only.
Naturally soil-less culture, plants are raised without soil.
Improved space and water conserving methods of food production under soil-
less culture have shown some promising results all over the world.
❑ Introduction :
❑ Review of Literature :

• NOT Completed
❑ Aim of Presentation :
❑ Importance of water :
Water water every where not a drop to drink
❑ What does a plant need to grow :
❑ Basic of hydroponic :
• In natural conditions, soil acts as a mineral nutrient reservoir but the soil
itself is not essential to plant growth. when the mineral nutrients in the soil
are dissolved in water, plant roots are able to absorb them. when the required
mineral nutrients are introduced into the plant’s water supply artificially, soil
is no longer required for the plant to thrive. almost any terrestrial plants can
grow like this.
❑ Method of Implementation Hydroponic :
❑ Methodology :
❑ Control System Require:
• Arduino UNO
• Temperature and Humidity Sensor
• For Extension :
• Atmega 328p Microcontroller
• Alphanumeric LCD Display • Wi-Fi Module for Large Field
• Submersible Pump + Relay Communication
• PH Sensor Module(PH-4502C + BNC PH • Android and IOS application
Electrode )
• Bluetooth Module (For Near Field
• TDS Water Conductivity Sensor Communication )
• Ultrasonic Sensor(HC-SR04) or Water level • GSM kit SIM 900
indicator .
❑ Circuit Diagram :
❑ Strength, Weakness, Opportunity &Threat
• Strength :
(SWOT )Analysis :

• Highly Controlled Environment for plant growth

• Production Rate is Higher
• Grow Healthier Crops
• No Pesticide Needed
• Saving in water
• Reuse of Nutrients
• Require Less Surface Area
• Highly Integrated Platform is available
❑ Weakness : -
➢ High Initial Cost
➢ Continuous monitoring is required
➢ Some Water born Diseases may occur
➢ Infection can spread quickly
➢ Disease can Infect the whole System
➢ Complete Guide and Training are required.
❑ Opportunity :
• Highly Controlled Environment
• Artificial Light may be Used
• No Seasonal Restriction
• Eco-Friendly Environment
• Huge Demand For Vegetable and Fruits
• Capacity of building Agriculture Infrastructure
• Creation of a Hub for production / Processing and Marketing is Possible
❑ Threat Analysis :

• This Technology is New to India. So it needs great support from the

government.
• Cannot Complete with Soil Grown
• Dependency on Electricity
• Without Electricity, System Failure may occur
• Disease Management is a huge risk in this type of farming
• Skilled Workforce is required
❑ List of Crops we can grow :
➢ Strawberry.
➢ Cucumber
➢ Tomato
➢ Spinach.
➢ Broccoli

➢ And Green Leafy vegetables and some fruits

❑ Nutrients required for plants :
➢ Macro-nutrient ( Essential ➢ Micro-nutrients (Non- essential
Nutrients ) Nutrients)

• Calcium • Manganese Molybdenum

• Potassium • Sulphur zinc

• Nitrogen
• Copper
• Phosphorous
• Boron
• Magnesium
• Iron
❑ Advantage Of Hydroponic Technology :

• Land preservation • Control overgrowing

• Water conservation environment
• faster growth and maturity • Time saving
• Contamination free • Perennial production
• Minimal use of fungicide and • Highly palatable and nutritious
pesticide food
• Less labour and maintenance cost
❑ Disadvantage Of Hydroponic Technology :
• Application on commercial scale require technical knowledge and high initial
investment, though return are high .
• Hydroponic system are more expensive to set up .
• A High level of expertise is required .
• It Require constant Monitoring and Maintenance .
• Hydroponic systems depend on electricity to power the different component such
as grow light, water pump & fans .
• Therefore a power-loss will affect the entire system .
• Some water born disease can spread rapidly in recirculation system .
• Threat of system failure may occur .
❑ Future Scope and Result : -
• Since, hydroponic farming require less space and fewer resources, farm can produces more
without comprising the quality of the plants .
• It is the fastest growing sector of agriculture and it could be very well dominate food
production in the future .
• As population increases and arable land declines due to poor land management, people will
turn to new technologies and aeroponics to create additional channel of crop production .
• Hydroponic has the ability to feed million in area of Africa and Asia, where both water and
crops are in limited amount .
• Hydroponics also will be important to the future of the space program .
• Hydroponic offer the potential for large variety of food, and it supports the biological
aspect, called a bio- regenerative life support system .
❑ Result : -
❑ Major boost for hydroponic :
❑ Conclusion :
• Hydroponics is extremely effective and quickly method for growing plants and,
• It produce higher crop yields than ordinary soil planting, at a rate around 30% faster.
• For people with small outdoor spaces, Like
i. Urban gardens,
ii. Restaurants and
iii. At Balconies of home. hydroponics is an effective way to grow a large number of
plants.
• Hydroponic growing is also a promising form of agriculture for places with poor soil
quality, limited access to water, or less reliable energy infrastructure.
