1. PURPOSE:
2. SCOPE:
This method statement defines the commissioning methodology for the
Commissioning of VENTILATION FAN. The work will be coordinated with other
services during the execution of work in line with the specifications, approved
MAS, and approved shop drawings.

Ensure that all the pre-commissioning checks are carried out successfully.
Start the fan for a moment & check the direction of rotation of the fan / motor is
correct.
Upon ensuring correct direction of rotation, start & run the fan for 5 minutes in
normal condition.
Check for any undue vibration or noise.
Induce a fire signal from a floor through the Fire alarm control panel & check the
working of the fan in Fire condition.
Check the Motorized fire damper in the subject floor from where the fire signal is
induced is open & all other fire dampers are closed.
Check the damper to the FAHU is closed & the normal extract air passage
dampers in all the floors are closed.
Measure air flow in the main smoke extract air duct and adjust, if required to set
design value.
Check any control / safety devices for proper functionality.
Check & record the current & voltage on all phases.
Check & record the static head.
Record all readings in the final performance check list reference no.
For ‘Linear Flow Systems’, supply and exhaust points (Axial fan) should be
spaced across the starting & terminating point of the trench.
Supply air points should include access from outside.
The impulse ventilation system layout should complement the natural air path
from supply to exhaust points.
All the inspection requests which is a witness point as per the ITP shall be
submitted one day prior to the consultant
RECORDS:
All inspection formats and other records shall be as per project approved forms.
Safety
All activities will be executed in accordance with contractors HSE Plan and HSE
guidelines.
Safety risk assessment shall be performed for every job or task, which has the
potential for harm.
Ensure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is available with all the workers.
All required equipment and tools should be checked before start of work for
suitability and integrity.
All safety Guidelines shall be adhered as per approved HSE Plan.
Necessary permit to work to be obtained as per the site requirement.
Before commencing any works, all employees will attend a safety induction
training to ensure all safety measures are understood and implemented and to
cover Specific procedures in case of emergency and if necessary practical
training. Exercises will be conducted on escape routes, signage, evacuation
and rescue
12. HOUSE-KEEPING:
Effective housekeeping can eliminate some work place hazards and helps to
get job done safely and properly.
The work area shall be maintained neat and tidy as reasonably practical all the
times.
