PAEDIATRIC DOSE

 Weight Calculation
 <1yr = x+ 9/2
 1-6yr = 2x+8
 >7yr = 7x- 5/2 or 3x
 Blood Transfusion
o 10- 15ml/kg
 Feed
o 150 ml/kg Q2H (every 2hr) after PND7

 0-10kg = 100ml/kg
 10- 20kg = 1000ml for the first 10kg + 50ml/kg for each kg beyond 10

o Has respiratory depressant effect, give
sternal pressure or ambu bag support
o Rectal dose = 0.5mg/kg then 0.25 mg/kg
after 10min of needed (rectal acts fastly
than I.M)

41. Cetirizine

 Adult = 10- 30 mg xTID/QID
53. Diclofenac
 ATD- 0.1ml test dose, watch for 15 min before
giving I.M
 Caps = 50mg
 SR Caps = 75mg, 100mg

 Injection 3ml Vials with 25mg/ml
54. Dicyclomine (Cyclopam)  for Abdominal Pain, Renal
Colic, Spasmodic, Dysmenorrhea
 C/I <6month, urinary retention
 0.5mg/kg/dose x 3 (don’t give <6month of age)
 child 10mg/dose x BD/ TID
 Adult 20- 40mg/dose
55. Dimenhydrinate (Dramamine) for Vertigo, Motion
Sickness
 5mg/kg/day in 3-4 divided dose
 2-5yr = 12.5mg/dose
 >5yr = 25mg/dose
 Adult = 50mg/dose
56. Diphenhydramine (Benadryl)  for Allergies, EPS
 5mg/kg/day in 3-4 divided dose
 Injection = 1mg/kg/ dose
 Adult = 25- 50mg QID
57. Doxycycline for Cholera, Mycoplasma, Chlamydia
 Don’t give below 8yr
 5mg/kg/day OD
 Adult = 100- 200 mg/day in 1-2 divided dose
58. Ergotamine for Migraine Headache
 Caps = 1mg
59. Erythromycin for Atypical Pneumonia, Pertussis,
Pharyngitis
 Caps = 250mg, 500mg
 Susp = 125mg/5ml
 10mg/kg/dose
 Infants = 10mg/kg/dose BD
 >7days age = 10mg/kg/dose TID
60. Ethamsylate  for Epistaxis, Hematemesis,
Haemoptisis
 10mg/kg
 Adult = 250- 500mg QID
61. Fluconazole  for Systemic Candidiasis
 C/I in liver disease
 6- 12mg/kg/day in 1-2 divided dose 1-4weeks
 Caps = 50mg, 150mg, 200mg
 Adult
o Oropharyngeal candidiasis = 200mg on day
1 then 100mg for 14 days
o Vaginal candidiasis = 150mg single dose
62. Furosemide  for Pulmonary Edema, Cardiac Edema,
Hepatic Edema
 1-2mg/kg/dose x TID/ QID
 0.5-1mg/kg/dose I.M TID/ QID
 Caps = 40mg
 Injection = 20mg/ 2ml
 Adult = 20-80 mg/dose x TID/ QID
63. Furazolidone  for Enteritis, Protozoal Diarrhea
 Caps = 100mg
 Susp = 25mg/5ml
 6mg/kg/day in 3 divided dose orally
 C/I < 1month of age
64. Fusidic Acid
 Antibiotic for topical infection (Pioderma)
 3-4 times a day
65. Gamma Benzene Hexachloride (Scaboma)  for
Pediculosis Capitis, P.Pubis, Scabies
 1%lotion, 1%cream once a week
66. Gentamycin  for Infection in NewBorn,
Septicaemia, UTI
 5- 7.5 mg/kg/day in 2-3 divided dose IM/ I.V
 C/I for Renal failure
67. Griseofulvin  for Tinea of skin, hair, nail and scalp
 5mg/kg/dose x BD
 Caps = 125mg, 250mg, 500mg
 C/I in liver disease
68. Hydrochlorothiazide  for Edema, Hypertension
 Edema :
o <6month age = 1-1.5 mg/kg/dose x BD
o >6month age = 1mg/kg/dose x BD
o Adult = 25- 100mg/kg/…
69. Hydrocortisone
 As Succinate  for Anaphylaxis, Status
Asthmaticus, Shock, Addison’s Disease
o 5mg/kg/dose
o Caps = 20mg
o Injection = 100mg I.V
 As Acetate  for OA, Keloid give only
intralessionally, Don’t give IM/ I.V
o Injection = 25mg
70. Ibuprofen  for Dental Pain, Apthous Ulcer
