Differentiate Terminating From Repeating, Non-Terminating Decimal Quotients
I. Objectives
A. Learning Competency: Differentiate terminating from repeating, non-terminating
decimal quotients.(M6NS-li-119)
B. Content: : Differentiate terminating from repeating
C. Skill: Differentiating
D. Context: Differentiating terminating from repeating, non-terminating decimal
quotients
II. Learning Resources: flashcards, Instructional materials, power point.
III. Procedures:
Learning Episode 1 :
A. Motivation: Evident # 1.
1. Presentation:
Today our topic is to differentiate terminating from repeating, non-terminating
decimal quotients.
2. Importance:
It is important because we could tell if a decimal quotient is terminating or repeating.
3. Formative Assessment:
At the end of this topic each one of you can differentiate terminating from repeating,
non-terminating decimal quotients .
Learning Episode 2:
Motivational questions:
Where did the school conduct the school meet?
What sports did Girls won 1 out of 3?
What sports did Boys won 3 out of 4?
Since today we are going differentiate terminating from repeating, non- terminating decimals.
Let’s define first the following terms:
Terminating
results when the division process terminates or stops with a zero remainder.
Repeating
results when the division process never ends. It has always a remainder. A
remainder is a digit or group of digits in the decimal part that keeps repeating
itself without end. A bar is placed on top of the repeating digit.
Lets go back on the problem.(the teacher will use the problem for examples.)

Guided Practice
Group 1
Directions: Differentiate terminating from repeating, non-terminating decimal quotients. Write
T if its terminating and NT if non-terminating/repeating.
a. 15 ÷ 20 = ?
Group 2
Directions: Differentiate terminating from repeating, non-terminating decimal quotients. Write
T if its terminating and NT if non-terminating/repeating.
a. 6 ÷ 11 = ?
Group 3
Directions: Differentiate terminating from repeating, non-terminating decimal quotients. Write
T if its terminating and NT if non-terminating/repeating.
a) 2 ÷ 12 = ?
IV.Evaluation
Directions: Differentiate terminating from repeating, non-terminating decimal quotients. Write
T if its terminating and NT if non-terminating/repeating.
1. 3 ÷ 20
2. 5 ÷ 30
3. 8 ÷ 12
4. 10 ÷ 40
5. 8 ÷ 9
V. Assignment
Directions: Give the equivalent value in decimal form. Tell whether the quotient is terminating or
repeating non-terminating decimal. Write your answers in your answer sheet.
1. 15/20
2. 6 /11
3. 3 /16
