I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
1. define dependent and independent variables;
2. identify the dependent and independent variables in a sentence or
problem; and
3. exhibit appreciation on the importance of the dependent and
independent variables in the practicalities of life.
B. Performance Standards The learner is able to perform correlation and regression analyses on real-
life problems in different disciplines.

PROCEDURE
The teacher and the assigned learners will facilitate the following activities:
1. Prayer
2. Classroom Management
3. Recap: Bivariate Data
This lesson will introduce to students the two types of variables: dependent and
independent. Furthermore, they will learn how to distinguish the two.
Priming Activity
Indicator 1: Apply knowledge of content within and across curriculum teaching areas.
The activity entitled “Function Machine” will be performed to commence the class.
This activity will help the students to relate what they have learned in General
Mathematics and connect it to the topic at hand.
To process the accomplished activity, the guide questions and follow up queries to the
students will help them to bridge their realizations to the understanding of the lesson.
B.
Development Indicator 2: Display proficient use of Mother Tongue, Filipino and English to facilitate
teaching and learning.
Indicator 3: Use effective verbal and non-verbal classroom communication strategies
to support learner understanding, participation, engagement and achievement.
The teacher will present another activity as part of the development and discussion.
The teacher will then continue to discuss the topic at hand as part of the abstraction.
Illustrative examples will be given to explain and help the students understand the basic
concepts and the needed competencies required by the subject.
C. Indicator 5: Maintain learning environments that promote fairness, respect and care to
Engagement encourage learning.
In deepening students’ understanding of the lesson, they will perform the collaborative
group activity in the application part. These varying activities will help the learners in
involving themselves in deeper learning of the target concepts about the definition and
the difference between the independent and dependent variables. The learners will be
given a time limit of ten minutes to complete the task.
Some questions relative to the independent and dependent variables will be posted.
This will lead to the appreciation of the students towards the importance of
understanding the concepts and insights about independent and dependent variables by
relating them to the practicalities of life and its application to every human endeavor.
The teacher will conduct a short review to check the understanding of the lesson by the
students.
D.
Assimilation Indicator 7: Apply a range of successful strategies that maintain learning
environments that motivate learners to work productively by assuming responsibility
for their own
learning.
The learners will be evaluated via google forms. The short quiz consists of 10 Multiple
Choice items answerable in 10 minutes.
Indicator 1: Apply knowledge of content within and across curriculum teaching areas.
Indicator 8: Design, adapt and implement teaching strategies that are responsive to
learners with disabilities, giftedness and talents***
The learners will also be given an additional task to be accomplished in their homes to
develop more of what they have learned. This agreement part is carefully integrated
with the subject Practical Research to create their own title in their chosen study and
have them select their method of demonstrating their understanding of the topic by
choosing and applying their appropriate skills and talents.
