Methodology

This survey examined stress levels in students aged 15-22 in Vietnam. The results showed that most students felt stress from their studies (56.9%) and finances (52.9%), more so than from family or relationships. While 40.6% of high school students did not participate in top student competitions, 34.4% did participate. The most common stress relievers for students were playing video games/listening to music (56.3%) and chatting (37.5%). More students said college was more difficult than high school (46.6% vs. 19%), indicating parents are becoming more open to Western-style education approaches. The research was limited by its focus only on Vietnamese students.

Introduction

No one can deny the fact that stresses cause many negative impacts on students. Most

students are suffering from a different kind of stress in learning. They also knew about the term

"stress" when they started going to school. In addition, high school pupils or college have to deal

with various kinds of stress, especially high school pupils who are in the national entrance exam.

Why do parents in Viet Nam always lay too much emphasis on comparing to "Eomchina"? Our

survey hopes to answer this controversial issue via many news and media that we gather to create

this report.

Most people insist that their children have to get higher scores at school than any student,

or at least they must get scholarships. There is a quote that says: "Studying is not the only way to

success, but it is the shortest route". Thus, there are too many homework sources that force

students to do. Students who study at college/university living away from home may gain many

stresses (Smith, 2018). Moreover, pupils felt that they were more stressed than they had been

before the Covid-19 pandemic. They had a lots tasks to do and their relationships with their

teachers were strained (Pope 2022). Although numerous studies have been done to date, more

research needs to be done on all 15-to-17 students. Researching students aged between 15 and

17, we will have more insights into many ways of stress gained from all students. This source

only concentrated on interviewing seniors at high school, it does not even give solutions to tackle

psychological problems that can lead to a plethora of negative impacts on them shortly.

This survey was carried out to illustrate to many people the factors of stress that can

affect students and lead them to a plethora of unpredicted consequences. The fundamental

purpose of this survey is to provide students of all ages with some tips to release stress.
Methodology

This survey discusses the differences in stress between high school pupils and college

students. The program provided opportunities for students to state the reason why they gained a

plethora of stress and the solution for it. Five students gave a hand with this survey. This survey

was participated by all students aged between 15 and 22. This survey was valid for both genders.

It was a common questionnaire that can be easily approached by all students. This report started

on the 19th of September 2022 and ended on 22nd of September 2022.

In this survey, we used close-ended questions mixed with open-ended questions. There

were 12 questions for high school pupils and 17 for college students. We randomly chose 90

people to do this survey. We illustrated how stress all students gained and solutions to release

stress for all. We gathered all the questions to convert into a form. It was more convenient to

conduct online than doing it on paper.

Firstly, we created the questionnaire together and formed the hypothesis. Secondly, when

we finished the questionnaire, we applied it to the Google Form and sent it to the respondents.

We completed the questionnaire at UEH-ISB university. It took approximately two days to finish

the questionnaire and one day to receive the responses.

We changed the questionnaire into many graphs that we can easily illustrate. The data

which we converted into percentages could be easily analyzed. The data was between high

school pupils and high school college, both genders: girls and boys.
Results

Choices of how students participate in top students competitions

The given graph depicts the tendencies when students participate in excellent for top students for

high school pupils. There are 3 different kinds of the answer: (Yes), (No), and (Intended).

Notably, students who do not participate in the contest occupied the highest percentage in

general. The proportion of students who participated in the competition is 34.4%, which is higher

than the number of students who intend to join in. The percentage of students who have not

participated in the competition is 40.6%, whereas only 25% intend to join in.
A variety of habits which students tend to do when they are stressed

The figure illustrates various habits that students tend to do when they gain a lot of stress.

There was a variety of habits that students did when they gained different types of stress. The

percentage of students who play video games and listen to music has the same ratio and occupied

the highest proportion in general (56.3%). The proportion of students chatting is 37.5%, as

opposed to only 18.8% and 9.4% for students like going on a vacation, playing sports, and

reading books respectively. The proportion of students watching Tiktok is 1%, ranking seventh

among the 6 habits surveyed.

Making friends in college/university

The pie chart shows how students make friends when they are in an academic environment.

Students tend to make friends at college/university.

types of answers.

Types of stresses

The given horizontal column chart shows different kinds of stresses that students can gain when

they are stressed.

The table shows that most students usually gain stress from studying. The proportion of students

who feel stressed about their studies is approximately 56.9%, whereas only 15.7% of students are

under a lot of stress from their families. Approximately, 52.9% of students getting financial

school and college/university is 34.5%, which is two times higher than pupils selecting a high

school. Moreover, the percentage of students choosing college/university is three times higher

than students choosing a high school, at 46.6% and 19% respectively.

Abstract

This research was done to approach the number of students aged from 15 to 22. This research

was completed by five students of ISB university on 22nd of September 2022. The data received

from respondents was converted into charts to illustrate in what fields students got stressed and

how students overcame stress. The results indicate that most students tend to be under pressure in

their learning. Because of the lack of time to do other researches, our research might have a

shortage of learning aspects.

Discussion

In Viet Nam, students and parents believe that studying in Viet Nam is simple and gain no stress.

They lay too much emphasis on learning theory instead of practicality. Most parents in Viet Nam

are following this frame of Vietnamese learning. But several parents follow abroad learnings.

They concentrate on learning the Western format. People accept studying the Western format

only when there are several special cases. My initial prediction was that people who major in

education and parents would favor traditional learning. As we know, learning theory is very

difficult for students. It accidentally gains stress on all students.

In line with the original hypothesis, most students aged from 15 to 22 gained stress with their

studying and finance. It means that the number of students who feel stressed while studying and

lack finances are equal. It can be seen as a signal that Vietnamese parents started to be open to

Western education. Theory education was no longer the only choice.

There are two main results to profoundly explain why the number of students who feel stressed

while learning and lack finances are equal. Firstly, why not the number of students who gain

stress while learning higher than students who feel stressed because of a lack of money?

Vietnamese parents were those who tended to stability before making long-lasting and safe

decisions for their children because of the difficulty in Vietnamese education. They encourage

their children to follow the Western learning format. They realized that there were none of the

types of education which fit them, besides the Western learning format. Secondly, every student

has characteristics, so experts and parents are not likely to choose the traditional or the Western
style. If there are compulsions from their parents, they will create invisible stresses for their

children.

The research paper was limited to Vietnamese students; therefore, it was impossible to equate all

students globally. Perhaps the idea of releasing stresses by following the Western learning format

will not be possible if applied to other poor continents like Africa due to they cannot meet the

necessary and sufficient conditions to apply to their children. Therefore, their children may gain

stress doing for a living.

Thus, parents must be careful about choosing for their children to follow what kind of learning

style can fit their children without laying too much stress on them. Therefore, the data collected

are only at a theoretical level and do not give adequate answers to pragmatic solutions for

reducing stress.
