FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEMS| Safety and Protection
POSSIBLE MIND-SET
…the legislation imposes me to have safety protection. I’m going to spend money for something I will never use….
Just try to content the authorities and look for the cheapest solution…..
Why should we at
all look for the top
solutions for all this??

FIRE SPRINKLER SYSTEMS | Safety and Protection
GOALS THE ‘HOW’
1 Lives Safety Fire prevention strategy
the primary goal of fire safety efforts is to protect The basic strategy of fire prevention
building occupants from injury and to prevent is to control or isolate sources of
loss of lives fuel and heat in order to halt
combustion – in other words, to
break the so-called ‘fire triangle’.
FIRE PROTECTION
2 Property Protection
the secondary goal of fire safety PASSIVE PROTECTION ACTIVE PROTECTION
is to prevent property damage • Study and design criteria for • Fumes detecting system
or loss adequate emergency exit for • Combustion gas removal system
buildings • Firefighting system
• Study of the reaction of the
material to a flame

FIRE PUMP
A Supply, install and commission firepump set comprising of electric duty SET 1
pump, diesel engine driven standby pump and jockey for pressure
sustainance. The automatic operation pumping set shall be in accordance
with European Norm EN 12845 covering automatic fire sprinkler systems,
and UNI 10779 covering hydrant networks. The equipment shall be as
Grundfos Hydro EN Y-65-200-170 or equivalent and will comprise of:
1 No. Electric driven NKF single-stage, end-suction automatic start/manual
stop centrifugal pump set with a flow rate of 1750lpm against 2.8 bars
head and a power supply of 15 Kw, 415V, 50Hz.
1 No. automatic diesel driven engine fire pump set with a flow rate of
1750lpm against 2.8 bars water head.
All pumps shall be of back pull out design with space coupling allowing
for removal of hydraulic parts without having to remove motor or pipe
connections. All pumps shall be PN 16 rated with stable curves per EN12845
The engine shall be capable of delivering 10% more power than required
by the pump at any of the performance values within the recommended
fields of use, and have a twin-belt drive of the cooling fan and/or pump to
Permanent records for this pump are kept by the serial number and it must therefore
be used with all correspondence and spare parts orders.
Confirmation of listing/approval
FM approval can be confirmed by:
1. Checking nameplate of approved component (e.g. pump, engine)
2. Checking approval on FM website.
http://www.approvalguide.com/CC_host/pages/public/custom/FM/login.cfm
(create a username and password -mine is email and password- fire)
3. Requesting for certificate of compliance for specific components of the
