NVISION 8500: flexibility and resilience
Multi-format flexibility
Multi-format routing includes support for 3Gbps, HD, and SD video plus AES audio within the same frame.
The Enterprise Class routers can be configured as video only, audio only or a mixture of the two. This
flexible architecture allows systems to be customized to the individual needs of the facility.

Future-proof product design

Based on a foundation of technology firsts, the NVISION range’s scalable router technology platform
enables future-proofing of the system. You can create customized router systems with the features and
functionality needed for today’s requirements, expanding capabilities over time to meet future growth.

Advanced router technology

The NVISION 8500 advanced router platform technologies include: n-on-1 redundant crosspoints, rear
passive connection schemes for 1.5 and 3 Gbps SDI signals, linear expansion for high-speed serial video
routers, and error-free operation for all digital data up to 1.5 and 3Gbps.

N-on-1
N-on-1 crosspoint redundancy
Patented n-on-1 crosspoint redundancy provides a zero downtime capability, with a back-up system for
the largest possible impact block in the router. The scalable design of the NVISION 8500 family includes
high density 3Gbps crosspoint modules to create a 576 x 576 crosspoint array. The NVISION 8576 supports
a matrix size of up to 576 x 1152, while the NVISION 8576-Plus system can be configured with two
interconnected frames to support a non-blocking matrix of up to 1152 x 1152.

Ideal for operation with multi-viewers

The NVISION 8500 Enterprise Class routers are ideal for feeding multi-viewers like the Kaleido-X. The
routers’ rectangular matrix enables large multi-viewer installations to be supported, without sacrificing the
core square matrix outputs. The NVISION 8500 crosspoint redundancy maintains protection of all router
paths, including multi-viewer feeds.

Scalable architecture
The NVISION 8500 family’s scalable architecture allows you to build systems of any size. Linear expandability
eliminates costly, space consuming external input distribution fan-outs and output secondary switching
altogether. A field proven, internally integrated active linear expansion capability removes the inherent
termination problems of external passive splitters and combiners. The result is greater system signal
integrity with fewer signal errors and bigger loss budgets. Additionally, high density packaging maximizes
available rack space while simplifying systems engineering, without sacrificing functionality. Available in
five frame types, the NVISION Enterprise Class routers’ scalable, expandable architecture supports high-
density matrixes, starting at 9 x 18 in a single 8RU frame to 1152 x 1152 in two 32RU frames.

routers nvision series

Unmatched scalability and signal integrity

Highly integrated video and audio routing
Hybrid routing technology offers the unique ability to disembed up to 16 channels of audio per video
signal and embed them into a different video signal. This is all done internal to the router with minimal
delay. Significant cost savings can be enjoyed with the elimination of the external equipment normally
required to perform this task as well as improving operational efficiencies by simplifying the workflow of
a facility.

Unparalleled signal integrity

Superior performance over coaxial cable lets you fully exploit cost-effective coaxial cable for shorter runs.
Optical fiber connectivity is available for long distance operation.

Linear expansion reduces cost of ownership

The NVISION 8576 and NVISION 8280 Plus can be easily expanded in the field by simply adding a second
frame and the appropriate front plug-in modules. Linear expandability eliminates the need for secondary
switching matrixes or distribution amplifiers.

Unique fault-tolerant design

The NVISION 8500 Enterprise Class routers are designed for reliability, fault tolerance and redundancy. All
input and output modules, crosspoint modules, power supplies, controllers, and fans are front accessible
and hot swappable. No rear cables need to be removed for servicing or maintenance. Power supplies are
fully redundant with continuous load sharing between supplies.

High density cable management

The use of high density cable connectors on large routers provide densities two to three times that of
conventional BNCs, and lets you fully exploit cost-effective coaxial cable for shorter runs, along with major
rack-space savings.

Powerful router control systems

Field proven in hundreds of installations worldwide with millions of hours of continuous operation,
the NVISION router control systems are ideal for mission critical applications. Designed to grow with
your needs, the router control system offers a full complement of user interface options, along with full
redundancy, and an easy-to-use Java based configuration editor.
The remote control panels include highly configurable hardware and virtual control panels. They provide
all the features, functions and redundancy essential to address a broad range of applications, from the
smallest television station to the largest uplink and origination centers.

De-embedded/embedded audio shuffling inside an NV8500
The ultra resilient NV8500 routers with embedded audio shuffle are ideal for use within production truck environments where physical space and cable
management are critical. Audio signal management no longer requires separate frames and cabling. Dissembedding, embedding and mono audio
channel shuffling can all be managed within a signal path of a serial video router eliminating the need for numerous outboard cards, card frames, and
inter-frame cabling while reducing power consumption.

External modules are typically used when permanent shuffling is needed. Another method is to use groups of external modules for shuffling and using
the router’s tie line control to allow the shuffling function to be used when required by any signal on the router when needed. When the shuffling is not
needed, the tie line management software releases the group of modules, which then becomes available to be used again.

NVISION router with advanced hybrid pathfinding under NV9000 management

With Miranda’s NVISION Enterprise routers using hybrid switching technology, this external function is now moved inside the router. Using the NV9000
router control system allows for small section of the router to be populated with the hybrid modules and allows the audio breakaway routing to be used
from any input to any output. The number of hybrid modules will determine the number of simultaneous paths that may be used. This mixed population
of the router along with tie line software offers a cost effective solution to provide the audio shuffling operation.
