1. Overview of the tool


When a problem occurs which the MFP does not bootup, the CPU board and storage board (SSD) / MicroSD
card are diagnosed to identify the parts that need to be repaired or replaced.
If the master boot record of storage board (SSD) / microSD card is defective, there is a function to try recovery.
Also, the tool has the function of to disable the encryption setting in CPU board when the storage board failure
occurs on the machine with encryption is enabled.

- MFP does not bootup with 25% indicator
- MFP reboots after displaying 50% indicator
- MFP does not boot up with blackout screen

3. Diagnosis procedure
1. Uncompress the tool file and copy the extracted tool data folder, [FW****], into the root directory of the
USB memory
2. Turn OFF the main power switch
3. Connect the USB memory containing the firmware into the USB port on the right side of the control panel
4. Turn the main power switch ON while pressing the [Stop] key
5. The tool screen is displayed in approx. 90 seconds and press the [Start] with default settings

4. Diagnosis Result
When the diagnosis is completed, the following screen (diagnosis result) will be displayed.
Conduct appropriate action (troubleshooting) according to the message.

Message : Replace the CPU board. -> Replace CPU board because SPI-Flash may have some failure.

Message : Rewrite the jig, and if the problem persists, Replace USB flash memory and rewrite this tool
replace the USB memory. if the problem persists.

Storage board (SSD), microSD card


The following diagnosis results are displayed for each item according to the diagnosis / recovery results.

Check Result : OK
Message : <Blank> -> No issues are detected in Storage board (SSD)/microSD card.

Check Result : Error -> This tool may not be working properly.
Message : Rewrite the jig, and if the problem Replace USB flash memory and rewrite this tool
persists, replace the USB memory. if the problem persists.

Check result : NG -> Replace Storage board (SSD)/microSD card.


Message : Replace [SSD/uSD], and if the problem If the problem persists, replace CPU board.

Partition check : OK
Message : <Blank> -> No issues are detected in the partition of Storage board (SSD)/microSD card.

Partition check : NG
Message : Format the SSD. Or replace the SSD. -> Format or replace Storage board (SSD)/microSD card.

Partition check : Failed -> Failed Partition check.


Message : Replace [SSD/uSD], Replace Storage board (SSD)/microSD card.
and if the problem persists, replace [CPU board]. If the problem persists, replace CPU board.

Recovery check:Complete -> Recovery Check : Complete


Message : <Blank> Reboot MFP and check the normal operation.

Recovery check : Failed -> Recovery Check : Failed


Message : Replace the SSD. Replace storage board (SSD) or microSD card.
