INTRODUCTION:
CSR would be impelling to derive a meaning of the concept with the dissection of each of the
words. CSR is not a difficult concept and can be defined as:
Corporate - means organized business;
Social - means everything dealing with people, the society at large;
Responsibility - means accountability between the two.
Corporate social responsibility is a company’s commitment to manage the social, environmental
and economic effects of its operations responsibly and in line with public expectations. today
CSR is not about philanthropy or charitable work. It refers to something more fundamental. It is
about how companies take responsibility for their actions in the world at large. Nowadays
corporate social responsibility is very crucial for every organization. Because corporate social
responsibility playing a vast role in the industry for improving industry quality. Corporate social
responsibility using to the belief that businesses have an obligation to society beyond their
commitments to their stockholders or investors ‘for that every organization trying to use
corporate social responsibility. By the corporate social responsibility, we Are getting lots of
facilities for the society. And also, we are getting satisfaction from the CSR. So that Corporate
social responsibility is energetic for society, business, people, and also organization.

Nowadays every organization are connected within the corporate social responsibility for getting
benefits or objective. Basic objectives of CSR are to maximize the company’s first to last impact
on the society and stakeholders. Some objective for business getting from CSR such as,
Better reputation.
Builds customer loyalty.
Increase employee engagement.
Risk mitigation.
Employee’s motivation

CSR IN BANGLADESH:
In the banking sector, CSR means to regain or surely preserve, customers' trust, it's far more
crucial than ever for network banks to engage the public via corporate social responsibility
initiatives (CSR) and philanthropy efforts. The financial institution measures the
environmental effect of tasks within the loan approval process and there are no permitted
environmental initiatives that might be harmful to the environment. In the present time
corporate social responsibility playing important role in the banking sector. The vast amount
of people involved in this activity and it’s also providing effort in the society and also the
country. Corporate Social Responsibility is spreading very rapidly in all of the effective
sectors of Bangladesh. Corporate Social Responsibility is to contribute towards society
while working within ethics. In developing countries like Bangladesh and also increase the
sector of the bank, the banking sector plays a very important role in upgrading the economy
of the country not only by lending money or increasing the liquidity in the country but also
by imposing a new practice called corporate social responsibility. So, we can be saying that
Corporate social responsibility is the backbone for the banking sectors to improve the
quality and increasing liquidity of the bank over the country.

plantation programs across the country.
•Social development: - It has taken some necessary steps against Dowry and drugs which
are the curse of Bangladesh.
The garments sector is known as the founder of our country. Because enormous amount of cash
gathered from this sector in each year. The garments sector is crucial for our government and
country of a to growth Economic conditions. And In the present time garments, Sectors are very
effective by using corporate social responsibility. By including corporate Social responsibility
activists our garment sector getting more quality and perform from the previous time. And also,
the owners of the sector, they are getting the ability to providing support to the society for
improving society condition. Corporate social responsibility playing a vital role in the garments
sector. And It’s also providing support for getting more finance from the previous time. And
using corporate social responsibility, our sector getting more image from the previous time. And
also economic conditions getting equality by the using of corporate social responsibility. So we
can say that corporate social responsibility playing an energetic effect on the garment sector.
Unilever Bangladesh Ltd (UBL) would perform CSR as Lever Brothers Bangladesh in the past
keeping focus on Health-nutrition hygiene, Education, and Women Empowerment. They
launched „ Lifebuoy Friendship Hospital‟ in 2002 and in 2006, they sponsored two months
nursing training program with Ma O Shisha General Hospital in Chittagong. They observed
different environment days like Pepsodent-Bangladesh Dental Society Oral Health Day‟ and
„Global Hand Washing Day‟.
Public health- Unilever Bangladesh Limited implements many programs on public health.
They’ve already have taken initiative for a free dental check-up. They create consciousness
among the rural people about health by their many activities.

follow laws and encourage work environment that welcomes diversity and also

HR policies have been continuously up-to-dated as per existing labour law of the
country. They do not allow any female employees during night shift operations &
strictly prohibit any form of forced labour. That actively pursue the policy of No
child labour in SQUARE.

The conclusion of this research is that CSR is no longer exclusive a developed country
phenomenon. it now recognized that poverty reduction and sustainable development will not
be achieved through government action alone. A focus on CSR in Bangladesh would be
useful, not only for improving corporate governance, labor rights, work place safety, fair
treatment of workers community development and environment management, but also for
industrialization and ensuring global market access. Corporate social responsibility impact into
the all types of business such as include labour standards, maintain human rights, increasing
education, build well health, reduce child labour, property reduction, reduce conflicts and
environmental effect. For Global competitiveness and demand should be maintain the CSR
practices and standards are being implemented in Bangladesh.
At last, CSR practices should be better practiced in Bangladesh for better and raised the
performance for the country.
