Activity-1

Swacch Bharath Abhiyan

Activity Details:

Activity Head : Swacch Bharath Abhiyan

Total Duration Spent : 80 hours

Activity Mode : Mahadeshwara Badavana Layout, Mysuru

ACTIVITY SUMMARY:

1.1 Justification for selected activity:

 Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, or Clean India Mission is acountry-wide
campaign initiated by the Government of India in 2014 to eliminate open defecation and improve
solid waste management. It is a restructured version of the NirmalBharat Abhiyan launched in 2009
that failed to achieve its intended targets.

 Swachh Bharat: Swachh Vidyalaya is the national campaign driving ‘Clean India: Clean Schools’. A
key feature of the campaign is to ensure that every school in India has a set offunctioning and well-
maintained water, sanitation and hygiene facilities. Water, sanitationand hygiene in schools refers to
a combination of technical and human development components that are necessary to produce a
healthy school environment and to develop or support appropriate health and hygiene behaviours.

 Mahatma Gandhi who laid great emphasis on cleanliness . He himself said that Sanitation is more important
than Independence.

 He wanted India to be a clean India.

 He very well had a clear understanding of the pathetic condition of the rural people. It's been 67 years of
Independence, and even today, more than half of India's population does not have proper toilets.

 Considering this fact in mind, the present Government of India wants to fulfill the dream of Mahatma Gandhi
and usher a clean India by 2019, which will mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Department of CSE 1 GSSSIETW, Mysuru

Activity-1: Swacch Bharath Abhiyan

 There is a need for students to understand the importance of this mission and crucially
participate in cleaning their own space first.

 Students need to train their younger ones to keep things clean.

 They can also visit rural areas and bring out the importance of the mission and encourage
them in contributing to it.

 Students need to actively participate in the Government programs regarding swachh and
come together by joining hands in those to promote cleanliness.

 Undergraduate students can take up this objective as their major role, clean and keep tidy
their respective localities.

 Students can create groups and go on the mission of collecting funds for this initiative. This
can be successful just like it proves successful in the case of arranging funds for New Year
celebrations, Ganesh Chaturthi, etc.

 Student plays a major role in this abhiyan as we know that students are the future of
India and hence teaching them means teaching a generation.

ACTIVITY SUMMARY:

1.1 Justification for selected activity:

School is the basic foundation of knowledge being imparted to a child. It gives a chance to children
to acquire knowledge on various fields of education, such as people, literature, history, mathematics,
politics, and other numerous subjects. School has become the first stepping stone in the life of a
child, wherein he/she learns a lot more than just rote learning. Developing hobbies, refining them,
learning basic etiquettes, getting skilled at multi -tasking, developing social skills are some of the
many things that a schoolequips a child with.

There is need for students in schools to be taught not only about studying the prescribed textbooks
but also Soft skills like Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, Time management,
Organizational skills, Leadership skills help students boost their academic performance. Soft Skills
are the foundation of building good relationships and are in tegral in one's personal as wellas
professional life. These help students to
1.Develop Emotional Intelligence
2.Nurture InterpersonalRelationships
3.Unveil the Leadership Qualities
4.Improvements in How Students Communicate
5.Time-Tested Tools To Ace in Examinations
6.GoalSetting and Target Achievements
7.Unleash The Hidden Potential

Department of CSE 9 GSSSIETW, Mysuru

Activity-2: teaching the importance of education, arts

A student will have to tread the path ofsharpening their interpersonal skills. Only then they
will demonstrate the traits of commitment, goal-consciousness, enthusiasm and motivation. All
these positive abilities will become the pillars of support to settle down in a respectful and highly
satisfying employment that everystudent dreams of.

1.1 Planning/Approach for 80 hours:

Soft skills are an essential part of improving one's ability to work with others and can have a positive
influence on furthering your career. Soft skills are personal attributes that influencehow well you
can work or interact with others. These skills make it easier to form relationships with people, create
trust and dependability, and lead teams. The importance of soft skills for students is enormous, both
with regard to their studies and with regard to their future careers. Students who recognize the
importance of soft skills on time are able to master their studies more successfully, complete their
student obligations smoothly, make more acquaintancesthat may proveuseful in thefuture, and better
present themselves to professors who can also play an important role in their futurecareers.
We searched schools that are nearby our college so that we could spend more time withstudents
whenever we can to understand them and what they need and what they lack. We then decided to
visit Government High School Metagalli, Mysore which is just 1Km from out college. We met the
Head Master of the school and took his permission to develop soft skills amongstudentsoftheir
school.
After we took permission from the school and from our college to progress with this activity,we
sat together and discussed among us on the following questions:
What arethe important skills we need to focus on?
How to teach them so they can actually understand us?
How to makethe session interesting?
Howto make the students actively participate?
planned for some interesting activities for the children. We split them into groups and made a leader
for every activity so that theywould develop collaboration and leadership skills. We made them play
time-restricted games in groups, so that they would learn time-management and organization. We
played some memory games as well along with that, which would boost their memorizing power.
We gave chocolates and pens for winners, appreciated them and encouraged them.

1.2 Planning/Approach for 80 hours

I planned according to my activity which is developing and managing efficient

garbage disposalsystem ,and divided them in to four parts such as

 Collecting waste

 Dividing them in to degradable and non degradable waste

 Getting organic manure out of degradable waste

 Growing plants obtained from the organic waste

As I mentioned in the above points I started collecting degradable waste from

the kitchen, and as soon as I got enough waste I let them to degrade and I added

some cow dung to make it rich and organic.

The waste start to decompose, as many days passed it turned in to a good organic

manure. Istarted growing plants using the organic manure obtained from the

above process , the, the plants are now organic and safe.
