Draft  a  patent  application  for  client:    Sanchelima  International,  Inc.,  a
Florida  corporation  (class  C,  not  S).

The  facts  delivered  by  the  client  (  and  written  down  by  a  first  year
associate)  are  as  follows:

Inventor:    Francisco  Garrido,  an  engineer  and    a  citizen  of  Mexico  resign
in  Mexico.
Note:    A  soldering  assistant  also  worked  on  the  prototype,  his  name  is
Bubu.

Party  in  interest:    Sanchelima  Dairy  Products,  Inc.,  a  Florida  corporation,
employer  of  the  inventor.    The  inventor  also  does  not  have  an  equity
interest  in  any  of  the  corporate  entity.    (  Do  we  need  an  assignment
from  the  employee-‐engineer  to  the  corporation?)

Client’s  president  wants  to  call  the  invention:    CONTINUOUS
EXTENDED  HOLDING  TANK  WITH  VARIABLE  RESIDENT  TIME.

Background.

In the food industry, pasteurization is an important step in many
production processes. The FDA requires (double check for latest
regulation from this federal agency), to meet pasteurization
requirements for dairy products, that the milk be kept at 72 degrees
centigrade for at least 15 seconds (or at a lower temperature for a
longer time, how low?). Most modern (high production) dairy
processes are continuous systems (in contrast with old batch
systems) and the milk is passed through holding pipes from one
phase to the next. To be able to raise the temperature and hold it for
the requisite time, serpentine piping is used. This requires long pipes

exposed to the pasteurization temperature. The length of the holding
pipe depends on the flow rate and diameter of the pipe. The longer
the pipe, however, the longer the time required to wash the pipes at
the end of the production cycle or when the product type is changed
(if the pasteurizer is used for different dairy products).

Additionally, it has been found that holding the milk for longer periods
of time promotes de precipitation of additional whey protein from the
whey (typically thrown away) that amalgamated with the casein
(another protein). This increases the protein yield resulting in a
bulkier curd and higher production ( with attendant higher profits).

Therefore, controlling and extending the holding time is desirable but

extending the serpentine holding pipe is not. Good results had been
obtained by holding ( at the high temperature) the milk longer (one
order of magnitude, for example 150 seconds or more) using the
batch system.

The milk enters centrally from the bottom and moves upwardly in a
non-turbulence, preferential (first in, first out) fashion, until the central
cylinder overflows laminarly in a non-preferential ( first in, first out)
fashion and it is deposited on the annular space between the inner
and outer cylinders.

Use at least one of the references in the prior art and differentiate the
present invention from the cited prior patent. This should go in the
section called Background of the Invention/Related Art (Par. # 3,
below).

You may use the following template for a patent application, as

[001] The present invention relates to ••• and, more particularly, to •••

2. Description of the Related Art.

[002] Several designs for ••• ( pasteurizers?) have been designed in the past.
None of them, however, include ••• (name the most important features of this
invention… be creative)

[003] Applicant believes that the closest reference corresponds to U.S. patent No.
••• issued to ••• . However, it differs from the present invention because . . .
Bla bla blah

[004] Other documents describing the closest subject matter provide for a number
of more or less complicated features that fail to solve the problem in an efficient and
economical way. None of these patents suggest the novel features of the present
invention.

III. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[006] It is one of the main objects of the present invention to provide a •••
(this section is an opportunity to show the client that you are aware of the benefits that his
invention will bring to the world and the support for its novelty and non-obviousness)

[007] It is another object of this invention to provide a •••

[008] It is still another object of the present invention to provide a •••

[009] It is yet another object of this invention to provide such a device that is
inexpensive to manufacture and maintain while retaining its effectiveness.

[010] Further objects of the invention will be brought out in the following part of
the specification, wherein detailed description is for the purpose of fully disclosing the
invention without placing limitations thereon.

IV. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

[011] With the above and other related objects in view, the invention consists in the
details of construction and combination of parts as will be more fully understood from the
following description, when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawings in
which:

Figure 1 represents •••
