INDIVIDUAL ACTIVITY
1. ACTIVITY
Enumerate three (3) activities or events that are popular in your area or community, whether
they would be in sports, religious or nonreligious festival, a public celebration, or any other type
of activity or event.
ANSWER:
Filipino people are known as settlers in many parts of the world. They are like the chameleon
who easily adapts to different environments. They thrive to survive. Survival of the fittest is
their banner.
The Philippines is a country that has varied cultural influences. Most of these influences are
results of previous colonization, deriving mainly from the culture of Spain and the United
States. Despite all of these influences, the old Asian culture of Filipinos has been retained and
are clearly seen in their way of life, beliefs and customs. Wherever you go, Filipino culture is
very evident and has largely been appreciated and even applauded in many parts of the world.
The Philippines is known around the world not only for its stunning natural wonders but also for
the locals' love to get together and celebrate. Proof of this is the long list of cultural festivals in
the country.
If i were to enumerate three of the hundreds activities or events that are popular in my
community, i would choose the religious/cultural festival, folk dance, and “Bayanihan.”
2. ANALYSIS
From your enumerated list in the Activity Section, which of those are popular in a regional,
national, or maybe in an international scale? Explain.
ANSWER:
Bayanihan -In the Philippines, the Bayanihan spirit is one of communal unity, helping others
without expecting rewards, to achieve a certain goal. In earlier days, when houses were made
of lighter materials such as coconut leaves, Bayanihan also meant helping one’s neighbours
move their house — literally.
Bayanihan spirit refers to the communal design of Filipinos to show act of kindness to those in
need. We often hear the phrase i n times of crisis. We feel it we read about other people who
helped victims of typhoons, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, and other calamities. We contact
our friends and find ways to help. Because we never run out of these calamities, the spirit of
bayanihan is ever-present.
The Bayanihan is popular regionally and nationally.
3. APPLICATION
Ask your grandparents or parents about two (2) popular Filipino movies that they have liked or
loved during their younger days and in what year have they seen them. Separately ask them to
name three of their favorite actors or actresses as well. Let them explain what was popular,
interesting, or appealing about the films and actors or actresses during such time.
