Guide to Authors
Format
The paper should contain the following parts:
1. Title page. The title should be printed in capital letters and must accurately identify and
describe the manuscript's contents. To facilitate the processing of papers while
protecting anonymity in the peer review, authors should identify themselves only on the
title page that should precede the article. Honorary authors are not allowed. A person
who has nothing to do with the analysis of data and writing of the paper and who cannot
assume responsibility for the technical content of the paper cannot be considered an
author. Include each author's complete mailing address and/or institutional affiliation on
the title page. Indicate the author to whom correspondence should be addressed by
putting an asterisk (*) after the name and the author's e-mail address. Indicate whether
the research is the portion of a thesis or dissertation and the sources of the research
fund.
2. Abstract. This is a concise summary of the important points of the paper, not to exceed
250 words. The abstract should be placed on a page after the title page. The title of the
paper should be indicated above the abstract. Keywords and phrases should not be
more than five and be arranged alphabetically to be written just after the abstract.
3. Body of the Paper. This section starts on page 3 and includes the introduction,
methodology, results and discussion, conclusion, implication, and recommendation. Set
headings at the center in boldface. Sub-headings should be aligned on the left of the
page and set in boldface and italics.
o The introduction includes a brief background of the study, statement of the
problem and its importance, a short survey of relevant literature, and the
research objectives. This should be written without subheadings of its different
components.
o The methodology includes the locale of the study, the research design, the
variables of the study, including the theoretical/conceptual framework of the
study, data gathering procedure, and statistical analysis.
o The results and discussion could be presented together or separately
depending on what best conveys the research outputs. Brevity and clarity of
arguments must be observed so that the problems/objectives of the study are
addressed.
o The conclusion(s) contain(s) an overview of the study's results and findings,
particularly to answer the objectives. The collected data should support them.
o The implication(s) reflect(s) the interpretation and insight(s) of the researcher as
to how knowledge users would involve themselves in applying the recommended
technologies or decisions and actions generated from the research.
o The recommendation(s) should be brief and relevant, reflecting how such
findings and best practice(s) gained from the research be applied in resolving a
problem or issue.
4. Literature cited. This should contain a listing of the references used by the investigator
related to his/her research work. The following should be considered in preparing of list
of reference:
The authors should be arranged alphabetically regardless of the type of
reference. Check that the list is in alphabetical order by surname of the first
author (treat Mc and Mac alphabetically and literally, not as if they were all
spelled 'Mac').
Names should begin upper case then lower case.
Where several references have the same author(s), do not use ditto marks or em
dashes; the name must be repeated each time.
Last Names containing de, van, von, De, Van, Von, de la, etc. should be
alphabetized according to the language of origin.
Names containing Jr or II should be listed as follows:
- Author Last Name, Initials, Jr. (year).
- Author Last Name, Initials, II (year).
When arranging several works by the same first author:
- Single-author references arranged in date order, the earliest first;
- Single-author entries precede multiple-author entries beginning with the
same surname
- Two or more author references in alphabetical order according to the
second author's last name, or if the second author is the same, the last
name of the third author, and so on
- References with the same authors in the same order are arranged by
year of publication, the earliest first:
Check that all periodical data are included – volume and page numbers
(complete span, not shortened), publisher, place of publication, etc. Only give the
issue number in parentheses immediately after the volume number if each issue
of a journal begins on page 1.
The date of retrieval of an online material is no longer required, only the URL
A word about publisher locations in book references: for all countries outside the
US, the country as well as the city of publication should be supplied, e.g.
'London, UK', 'Oxford, UK', 'Toronto, Canada', etc. For the US, the state
abbreviation should be included after the city, except when the name of the state
is part of the publisher's name, e.g. 'New York, NY: Cambridge University Press';
'New York: State University of New York'; 'Minneapolis: University of Minnesota
Press'.
