Study plan

My name is Min Thura Aung and I am excited to apply for the Korean Language Program at Hanyang
University, Erica Campus which is one of the most prestigious universities in South Korea. As a young
passionate language learner, I have always been fascinated by Korean cultures and I have been studying
the Korean language by my own for a few months now. However, I become conscious that my self-study
has limitations to fully understand the local cultures and I consider that learning Korean in a formal
academic setting will improve my comprehension of the language I need to become fluent.

I plan to study Korean language and culture courses intensively about one year, in order to achieve a
high level of proficiency and fluency in them. My goal for this program is to develop my language skills to
a level where I can easily communicate in every aspects of daily life such as socializing, working, and
shopping. So, during my time at Hanyang University, I plan to participate in cultural events and language
exchange programs as much as possible to broaden my knowledge and to learn different culture
backgrounds. And also I will actively take part in class discussions and language practice sessions.

In addition to studying Korean language, I will try to discover various perspective of Korean cultures
including music, film, literature and especially cuisine which is my favorite. And I hope to attend
different Korean cultural festivals and visit historical sites such as Ssanggyesa Temple in order to gain a
deeper understanding of Korean culture. On top of that I believe the combination of the program’s
rigorous curriculum with my hard work will give me a great preparation to get the high TOPIK level. And I
am confident that Hanyang University will offer all of the facilities I need during my entire learning
period.

After completing my language training program, I plan to continue my education in South Korea by
enrolling in a degree program in Nursing Science. As South Korea is one of the top countries in health
care system, I believe this degree program will provide me further knowledge of the basic health care
and a new experience of communicating with different people. And I suppose my proficiency of Korean
at that time will greatly provide me in the lab and research about the fundamental health care.

Overall, I am delighted to begin my journey to learn Korean language at Hanyang University with its
renowned program. I completely believe that the sources I get from the program with my commitment
and hard work will help me to receive the higher Korean proficiency and fluency. I think this journey will
give me the opportunities to explore the new destinations, traditions, and innovations in the future.
