1. ‘Medical science has been so successful that people now expect too much of it.’
Discuss.
- The Medical perspective in the 17th Century is naïve or primitive, that the possible
death rate of the citizens is the adult age of around 32 years old. A hundred infant
babies may die due to succumbing to the diseases; now in the modern world, a
hundred infant babies may live because of medical advancements. A human
capability is just beyond our imagination as it is the word: Creativity. Humans can
create unprecedented inventions: Cars, airplanes, Laptops, and even just a scenario
where an apple falls from a tree, then a perception of a man will make a
mathematical theory that changes human civilizations. These inventions and
discoveries are not just cultural initiatives of the people but for the most part, made
by humans because of environmental pressure. We evolve because of what nature
did to us, we evolve because of the adversary we encounter in our daily lives, in a
nutshell, we are always complaining; that means we question existence. Curiosity
or ignorance feeds our knowledge, to go beyond our imaginations. “Medical
science has been so successful that people now expect too much of it”, this
statement defines that medical science is positively evolving. Medical Science is
just also the typical people that gather information in everything, especially
people’s expectations or opinions. It is their job to have a consensus based on their
information. I think if people expect too much of it, it’s good and necessary for
medical science to grow or evolve. I believe in the next hundred years, maybe
people will be cancer-free. Therefore, I believe that science is the criterion of truth
and evidence.
