Visually inspect all contact areas for signs of arcing.
Lubricate and verify operation of all key interlocks and sequencing of schemes.

Verify sufficient electrolyte levels in all cells.
Place the battery charger on high rate of charge for 24 hours.

Let the batteries equalize for 24 hours after high rate of charge.

Measure and record the equalize/float voltage. Compare this value to design setting. Adjust if necessary.
Measure and record each of the cell voltages.
Visually inspect each of the cell connections. Remove any corrosion build-up.
Visually inspect the electrolyte levels of all cells. Top off with distilled or de- ionized water if needed.

Perform comprehensive oil analysis of all liquid-filled transformers, OCBs, and liquid filled tap changers.
Oil analysis will include a test for furans, three dielectric breakdowns at various gaps interfacial tension, neutralization number,
water content, and power factor at various temperatures.
STD-0572 1 Year Variable N N Transformer, Liquid Filled – Periodic Maintenance
To be completed online and is estimated to take 2 man hours.
Check all ground pads on the transformer to assure that all connections are sound and corrosion free.
Perform a full visual inspection of the following equipment:
Inspect the area around the bushings for any oil leaks.
Verify that all external connections show no signs of corrosion or overheating.
Verify that the tank is in sound condition and free of corrosion.
Inspect for leaks around gaskets, welds, radiator fins, and radiator isolation valves.
Verify that liquid-filled bushing levels are proper (if applicable).
For sealed tank systems, note the value of the pressure/vacuum gauge (if applicable). If the value is zero, monitor the gauge
over a short period. The pressure should fluctuate with ambient or oil temperature fluctuations. If it does not fluctuate, the tank
has lost its seal. Add 1 psig of nitrogen.
For transformers with a supplemental nitrogen gas system, verify the pressure in the nitrogen cylinder.
If applicable, verify function of control cabinet space heaters and thermostat.
If applicable, operate all air fans and accessories to assure proper operation, and ensure fan controls are left in the “AUTO”
position.
If applicable, Record readings on all gauges for future reference, and reset oil temperature gauge hottest temperature indicator.

For Neutral Grounding Resistors (NGR):


Check ground connections to assure that all are sound and corrosion free.
Visually inspect the resistor elements, bus-work, hardware, and connections to verify that all are sound and free of corrosion.

If repairs are required (whether performed during periodic maintenance or scheduled for a later date) open a PM-R in the EAM
system.
For Bus Duct:
Applies to electrical Equipment greater than 600V up to 15 kV
Visually inspect the exterior enclosure of the bus duct for any signs of corrosion, excessive rusting or missing hardware.

Verify (by visual inspection only) that any weep holes are open, correctly orientated, and free of moisture.

Inspect joint exteriors for any signs of moisture intrusion (damaged or corroded gaskets or sealant, signs of previous seepage,
etc.).
STD-0573 5 Years Variable Y Y Transformer – Major Maintenance

For Bus Duct:

Open the bus duct transformer terminal box, and visually inspect the interior for moisture, corrosion, overheating, or other
abnormalities.
Disconnect the flexible connectors at the transformers, and perform a 60- second phase-to-phase insulation resistance test
according to the table below.
With the flexible connectors still disconnected, perform a 60-second phase-to- ground insulation resistance test according to the
table below.

Check engine coolant and oil levels.
Change engine oil and filter, if necessary.
Check all belts and hoses for cracking and wear. Replace if necessary.
Verify proper operation of cooling air intake and exhaust louvers.
Clean air filters. Replace if necessary.
Test batteries and battery charger. Replace if necessary.
If installed, confirm that built-in load bank system is set-up for automatic operation and is functioning properly.

If built-in load bank test system is not installed, perform load test with portable load bank tester or actual system load.

Verify that fuel supply system is functioning properly.


Verify condition of exhaust system.
Perform other general engine maintenance according to the manufacturer's manual.

Inspect physical and mechanical condition.
Inspect anchorage, grounding, and required clearances.
Inspect switch alignment.
Prior to cleaning the unit, perform as found tests, if required.
Clean the unit if excessively dirty.
Verify correct blade alignment, blade penetration, travel stops, arc interrupter operation, and mechanical operation.

Inspect bolted connections for high resistance using a low resistance ohmmeter.
Verify operation and sequencing of interlocking systems if applicable.
Verify that phase-barrier mounting is intact.
Use appropriate lubrication on moving, current carrying parts and on moving and sliding surfaces.
Measure contact resistance across each switchblade assembly and fuseholder.
Perform insulation-resistance tests for one minute on each pole, phase to phase, and phase to ground with switch closed and
across each open pole.
Verify heater operation if applicable.
