SENIOR MASTER SERGEANT CHADWICK S. “CHAD” DESELMS
SMSgt Chad S. DeSelms is the Superintendent at the
916th Air Refueling Wing Command and Control
Operations at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North
Carolina. SMSgt Chad DeSelms supervises
Command Post operations and provides technical and
administrative oversight for fifteen AGR, ART and
traditional reservists. SMSgt DeSelms acts in capacity
of day-to-day chief of the CP and acts as an extension
of wing commander in execution of wing mission. He
plans work schedules and overall work programs to
support the Crisis Action Team during contingency
OPLAN 801X nuclear alert operations. SMSgt
DeSelms balances workload and provides advice,
guidance, and direction on a wide range of Command
and Control and administrative issues.
SMSgt DeSelms is a native of North Carolina and

entered the Air Force as a reservist in June 2008. He
completed Command Post Apprentice technical school
at Keesler AFB, MS in December 2008. SMSgt
DeSelms was a traditional reservist for 18 months and
became an ART in August 2010. He was an ART for 7
years and became an AGR in October 2017.
SMSgt DeSelms has also deployed in support of

Operations Freedom Sentinel, Inherent Resolve, and Resolute Support in Southwest Asia. Prior to his current
position, he was the Command Post NCOIC, Training at the 916 ARW/CP, Seymour Johnson AFB, North Carolina.
